Visakhapatnam is currently hosting the 28th National Conference on e-Governance (NCeG) 2025, a significant two-day event that commenced on Monday, September 22. The conference, jointly organized by the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG), the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), and the Government of Andhra Pradesh, is centered around the theme ‘Viksit Bharat: Civil Service and Digital Transformation’.

The inaugural session saw the presence of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Union Minister Jitendra Singh, who oversees Science and Technology, Earth Sciences, and Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions. Deputy Chief Minister K Pawan Kalyan and HRD Minister N Lokesh also attended the opening.

Approximately 1,200 delegates from 28 States and 8 Union Territories across India are participating in the conference. Over the two days, senior officials, industry representatives, and academicians will engage in six plenary sessions and six breakout sessions, featuring around 70 speakers. These discussions aim to explore innovative approaches to enhance e-governance and service delivery nationwide.

A key highlight of the conference is its focus on advanced technological integration. Sub-themes include ‘Visakhapatnam as an IT hub’, ‘artificial intelligence for inclusive solutions’, ‘digital transformation in civil services’, ‘cybersecurity in e-governance’, ‘benchmarking of service delivery’, ‘Agri Stack as a digital solution for agriculture’, and ‘grassroots-level innovations’. Discussions are also slated to cover subsea cables and AI data centers.

V Srinivas, Secretary, DARPG, noted the success of the WhatsApp governance model introduced by the AP government, stating, ‘We are keen to explore the possibility of replicating the initiative across the country.’ Chief Minister Naidu emphasized India’s unique position in the global landscape, asserting, ‘Only India can provide services to the global community,’ citing the aging population crisis in many developed nations. He also made a significant announcement regarding quantum computing, stating, ‘We took initiative, now quantum computer is coming. I am assuring you within two years’ time India is going to produce quantum computers and we are going to export and meet domestic competition in the near future. That is going to happen now,’ and declared Amaravati as India’s ‘Quantum Valley.’
