Zurich, Switzerland – Zenline AI, an innovative artificial intelligence startup, has announced the successful closure of a pre-seed funding round, securing €1.3 million to revolutionize assortment optimization for European retailers. While some reports indicate a figure of $1.6 million, the core mission remains to bolster local businesses against the formidable market presence of global tech giants such as Amazon and Temu. The investment round saw leadership from Seedcamp, a prominent European seed-stage venture capital firm, with additional contributions from Yellow, First Momentum, and Arc Investors.
Founded in 2024, Zenline AI is at the forefront of empowering European retailers through its advanced AI agents designed for modern assortment optimization. In an increasingly competitive retail landscape characterized by global platforms and intense margin pressures, Zenline AI aims to enable retailers to craft profitable and shopper-centric product assortments. The company’s AI technology delivers automated, product-level recommendations, covering everything from new product launches and consolidation strategies to the continuous optimization of existing inventory.
Arber Sejdiji, CEO of Zenline AI, articulated the company’s vision, stating, “We build AI agents that think like assortment decision-makers, but operate in seconds. Our mission is to empower European retailers to compete profitably again. Given how critical and shopper-centric assortment is, a retailer can win by increasing its top line and building a competitive edge against Amazon and Temu, because customers will easily find what they are looking for, consciously or not.” Sejdiji brings a wealth of experience, combining retail expertise with AI acumen, honed at institutions like BCG, P&G, ETH Zurich, and the University of Cambridge.
Zenline AI’s platform analyzes a comprehensive array of data, including internal margin data, competitor insights, and social trends, to identify assortment gaps and propose concrete pricing actions. Notably, the technology is designed to function effectively even without relying on internal retailer data, a feature co-developed with retail teams to ensure operational seamlessness. Since early 2025, European retailers have been utilizing Zenline AI, with the technology currently analyzing over one million SKUs, emphasizing rapid insights and execution. The software is capable of detecting cannibalization effects and suggesting specific optimization actions for each product or category.
Sia Houchangnia, Partner at Seedcamp, expressed strong confidence in Zenline AI’s potential, remarking, “Zenline hits a nerve in RetailTech. The future of category management is AI-powered. Until now, retailers lacked the foundation to make the most important decisions: what a strong assortment actually looks like. The team combines deep expertise in agentic systems and retail, and we’ve been genuinely impressed by their speed of execution. They have rethought assortment logic from the ground up to deliver immediate value to their first customers. This is exactly the kind of talent and solution coming out of Europe that we’re excited to back.”
