TLDR: Zania, a San Francisco-based agentic AI company, has successfully closed an $18 million Series A funding round. Led by New Enterprise Associates (NEA), the investment will fuel the expansion of Zania’s AI-driven platform, which deploys specialized AI agents to automate and execute complex Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) workflows, moving beyond traditional monitoring to real-time risk mitigation and compliance execution.
San Francisco, CA – September 30, 2025 – Zania, a pioneering agentic AI company focused on transforming enterprise Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC), today announced it has raised $18 million in an oversubscribed Series A funding round. The investment was spearheaded by New Enterprise Associates (NEA), with significant participation from Anthology Fund (backed by Menlo Ventures and Anthropic), Palm Drive Capital, and a syndicate of prominent senior executives from leading global firms including Amazon, Airbnb, PayPal, ByteDance, Reddit, Roblox, and PwC. Notable angel investors such as George Kurtz (Founder & CEO of CrowdStrike), Mike Curtis (former Head of Engineering at Airbnb), and Anand Deshpande (Founder & Chairman of Persistent Systems) also contributed to the round.
This substantial capital infusion underscores growing investor confidence in Zania’s innovative approach to GRC, which leverages specialized AI agents to move compliance programs from mere monitoring to active execution. Traditional GRC tools have historically identified risks without providing direct resolution, leaving organizations to manage labor-intensive tasks manually. Zania’s platform addresses this critical gap by deploying autonomous AI teammates capable of handling evidence collection, control testing, risk assessments, and gap analyses directly, effectively replacing static dashboards with actionable intelligence.
Shruti Gupta, Founder and CEO of Zania, stated, “Zania has experienced explosive growth in revenue and customers since we launched our first AI agents late last year. We’re excited to continue revolutionizing the security risk, compliance, and audit space by transforming it from tools that merely organize work into true AI teammates that execute highly complex and critical tasks from start to finish.”
The company’s flagship ‘Gap Assessment’ module exemplifies this capability, processing thousands of documents across more than 80 languages and mapping them to hundreds of control requirements in minutes, a process that traditionally takes months. This efficiency translates into significant benefits for enterprises, with Zania reporting up to 30 times faster execution, over 90% cost reduction, and more than 94% accuracy in critical GRC operations. This momentum has driven a remarkable 10x ARR growth this year, with the company already operating cash-flow positive.
Mustafa Neemuchwala, Partner at NEA, commented on the investment, “Cybersecurity GRC is mission-critical, yet workflows remain manual, painful, and impossible to scale. Shruti and the team at Zania bring together a rare combination of battle-tested cybersecurity, GRC, and agentic AI expertise, giving enterprises minutes-not-months speed.”
Zania boasts an impressive roster of customers, including fintech leader Plaid, global accounting and advisory firm Grant Thornton, Stanford University, KPMG, and one of the Big Four accounting firms. The company has also established strategic alliances with major consulting and IT services providers, such as Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and HCLTech, to broaden the reach and adoption of its AI compliance agents.
The newly secured funds will be strategically allocated to meet surging market demand. Zania plans to triple its engineering and go-to-market teams and accelerate the development of its agentic AI platform to orchestrate full end-to-end compliance workflows. The overarching goal is to transform compliance from a reactive reporting function into a proactive, intelligent system that manages and mitigates risk in real-time, empowering human experts to focus on strategic judgment and oversight rather than being bogged down by back-office tasks.

The funding round comes amidst a tightening regulatory climate and increasing pressure on compliance teams. Reports indicate that global anti-money laundering fines reached a record $19.3 billion in 2024, and 95% of organizations are increasing their compliance budgets by approximately 12% year-over-year. With nearly 98% of organizations planning to integrate AI into their compliance programs by 2026, Zania is well-positioned to lead this enterprise-wide shift towards AI-driven compliance.
