TLDR: WRITER, a prominent agentic AI platform for enterprises, has announced the appointment of Eric Freeman as its inaugural Chief Information Security Officer (CISO). This strategic move underscores the company’s deepened commitment to providing secure, enterprise-grade AI solutions amidst the rapidly evolving landscape of AI innovation and associated security challenges.

SAN FRANCISCO – August 21, 2025 – WRITER, a leading provider of agentic AI platforms for enterprise clients, today announced a significant enhancement to its security leadership with the appointment of Eric Freeman as its first Chief Information Security Officer (CISO). This key hire reinforces WRITER’s dedication to delivering highly secure and trusted AI solutions to its Global 2000 customer base.

Freeman’s primary responsibility will be to scale and accelerate WRITER’s comprehensive end-to-end security strategy. His expertise is crucial for enabling large enterprises to confidently build, deploy, and supervise AI agents at scale, ensuring their operations remain secure in an increasingly complex digital environment.

May Habib, CEO and Co-Founder of WRITER, emphasized the critical role of security in the company’s offerings. “Our customers are building their future on WRITER because they know their agents are as secure as they are powerful,” stated Habib. “Security isn’t an add-on, it’s the non-negotiable foundation of our platform. Eric’s leadership will be a massive asset to our customers and our team as we define the next generation of enterprise security for multi-agent systems.”

The appointment comes at a pivotal time, as AI innovation continues to outpace the development of robust security protocols. Enterprises are grappling with new operational risks, including data protection, effective agent oversight, and the complexities of agentic authentication and non-human identities. Freeman’s deep experience is expected to set a new industry standard for ‘secure-by-default’ AI across the entire technology stack.

Freeman brings over a decade of extensive experience in developing and scaling security programs within high-growth environments across various sectors, including fintech, SaaS, blockchain, and infrastructure. Prior to joining WRITER, he served as the Head of Security at Patreon, where he spearheaded initiatives in secure-by-default engineering, regulatory compliance, incident response, and enterprise security.

Commenting on his new role, Freeman stated, “Agentic AI requires entirely new security models, and my goal is to set a new standard for scaling what secure-by-default looks like in practice.” His focus areas will include strengthening agent oversight and authentication, designing solutions such as zero-trust and least-privilege frameworks to ensure AI agents operate securely within enterprise environments, and expanding platform features that leverage AI to enhance security through triage, continuous testing, and automated analysis.
