The newly established Lab is designed to be a powerhouse for developing elite AI agents and seamlessly integrating cutting-edge research directly into Workato’s platform and customer experiences. According to Vijay Tella, CEO of Workato, the company is moving beyond the prevalent ‘AI hype’ by deploying agents at the core of enterprise operations. “There’s no shortage of AI hype, but it’s not moving any of our core KPIs,” Tella stated. “While others experiment with chatbots and assistants at the edge, we’re deploying agents at the core — taking on real work, showing up in org charts, and transforming how companies operate. This is the beginning of the agentic enterprise, and Workato is ground zero.”
Further solidifying its AI-first vision, Workato announced the appointment of Adam Seligman as Chief Technology Officer and General Manager for AI Incubation. Based in San Francisco, Seligman will spearhead the company’s AI and developer strategy, unifying platform research and development, agentic research, and fostering a growing community of developers and AI engineers under a singular vision. Seligman, who brings extensive experience from senior product and developer leadership roles at AWS, Google, and Salesforce, emphasized the practical application of AI in the enterprise. “Enterprise AI doesn’t start with a model — it starts with real work,” Seligman commented, highlighting Workato’s focus on building tools and systems that empower developers.
Unlike conventional AI ‘wrapper’ tools, the technologies emerging from Workato’s AI Research Lab are being developed from the ground up.
