Bengaluru, India – Wipro, a leading global information technology, consulting, and business process services company, is making significant strides in its artificial intelligence (AI) integration strategy, with Chairman Rishad Premji affirming AI as a pivotal ‘game-changer’ for the organization’s future. Speaking at the company’s 79th annual general meeting (AGM) on Wednesday, Premji emphasized Wipro’s sharpened focus on becoming a ‘consulting-led, AI-powered organization’.
The company has already deployed more than 200 AI agents in collaboration with its hyperscaler partners. These agentic AI solutions are making a tangible impact across Wipro’s internal operations, including critical functions such as human resources, finance, and legal departments. This deployment underscores Wipro’s commitment to leveraging AI for enhanced efficiency and productivity within its own ecosystem.
Premji highlighted that the fiscal year 2024-25 was a period of significant change for Wipro and the global economy, marked by a rapidly scaling AI landscape. He stated, ‘AI, especially generative and agentic AI, is becoming a game-changer. It’s helping us rethink how we work, uncover new growth opportunities and deliver great value to our clients.’ This technology is enabling Wipro to move faster, improve quality, boost productivity, and deliver better experiences at scale.
Further solidifying its AI-first approach, Wipro is heavily investing in building an AI-first workforce. Almost all employees, including Premji himself, have completed foundational Generative AI training. Notably, over 87,000 employees have undergone advanced, role-specific upskilling in Gen AI, encompassing teams in HR, sales, finance, and delivery functions. This extensive training initiative aims to embed AI capabilities deeply across the organization.
Chief Executive Officer Srinivas Pallia, who recently completed his first year at Wipro’s helm, echoed Premji’s sentiments, stating that AI is now at the heart of every client engagement. Pallia noted that despite an uncertain global business environment and new headwinds, clients are increasingly seeking AI-powered solutions that deliver velocity, efficiency, and measurable business outcomes. He added that Wipro is helping clients define roadmaps, identify AI opportunities, and align with their business goals from the outset, adopting an ‘AI first and AI everywhere’ approach.
