Copenhagen, Denmark – July 8, 2025 – In a significant leap forward for artificial intelligence, Vodafone, Google Cloud, and TM Forum have unveiled a groundbreaking demonstration of inter-organizational AI agent collaboration. The project, showcased at DTW25-Ignite, marks a pivotal moment in the evolution of agentic AI, proving that AI agents from separate entities can interact and exchange information seamlessly.
The demonstration, led by Vodafone and Google Cloud within TM Forum’s Innovation Hub, illustrated a live interaction between TM Forum’s AIVA agent and Vodafone’s AI for Enterprise Architects (AI4EA). AIVA, initially developed as a generative AI search tool integrated into TM Forum’s website, has evolved into an ‘Agentic Architecture’ running on the Open Digital Architecture (ODA) Canvas. Vodafone’s AI4EA, a multi-agent system designed to support its enterprise architecture team, comprises a supervisor agent and specialized agents for tasks such as strategic insights, gap analysis, and diagram creation.
Lester Thomas, Vodafone’s Head of New Technologies and Innovation, highlighted the practical application of this innovation. “We’re actually implementing agent-to-agent interaction across different organizations,” Thomas stated during the live demonstration. He further elaborated on the benefits for enterprise architects: “As an enterprise architect, if you ask our agent a question and it involves some standards, it can go and get advice from the TM Forum by talking to the [AIVA] agent.” This capability promises to streamline operations, ensuring that new software engineers, for instance, can natively adopt TM Forum standards with minimal effort.
The technical backbone of this collaboration relies on two key protocols: the Model Context Protocol (MCP), which links Vodafone’s AI4EA to TM Forum’s AIVA agent, and Google Cloud’s Agent2Agent (A2A) protocol, which facilitates the interaction between these disparate agents. The Linux Foundation is set to host Google’s Agent2Agent protocol as part of the newly formed Agent2Agent project, fostering an open ecosystem for AI agents.
Aniket Mhala, Head of Innovation Hub at TM Forum, hailed the project as a ‘pioneering milestone in cross-enterprise agent integration.’ “This Innovation Hub project sets a good precedent for scalable, multi-organization AI agent ecosystems, demonstrating seamless interoperability and laying the groundwork for future enterprise-wide agentic frameworks,” Mhala commented. Beyond agent integration, the project also successfully implemented ‘agentic observability,’ a critical feature enabling real-time failure detection, behavioral analysis, audit trails, and performance evaluation, all vital for operational reliability.

This initiative builds upon Vodafone’s broader strategic partnerships, including a significant ten-year, multi-billion-dollar deal with Google announced in October 2024. This partnership aims to leverage Google Cloud’s Vertex AI platform and Gemini models to accelerate AI adoption, enhance customer experiences, and develop new services across Vodafone’s operations in Europe and Africa. The successful inter-organizational AI agent collaboration demonstrated at DTW25-Ignite underscores the tangible progress being made in realizing these ambitious AI-driven transformations.
