TLDR: Vietnamese enterprises are aggressively expanding their presence in the artificial intelligence market, with projections indicating a rapid growth to $1.52 billion by 2030. This surge is fueled by increasing AI adoption across various sectors, government support for national AI infrastructure, and a strategic shift from experimentation to delivering tangible business value. Key sectors like IT, finance, education, and healthcare are leading both supply and demand for AI solutions.
Vietnam is rapidly emerging as a significant player in the artificial intelligence landscape, with its AI market projected to reach an impressive $1.52 billion by 2030, demonstrating an annual growth rate of 20%. This robust expansion is highlighted in the Vietnam AI Annual Report 2025, compiled by the Information Technology Institute under the Vietnam National University, Hanoi, based on extensive surveys of nearly 500 businesses and organizations. The report underscores AI’s pivotal role in accelerating digital economic growth across the nation.
The year 2025 marks a crucial transition for Vietnamese enterprises, moving beyond mere experimentation to focus on delivering concrete business value through AI. This sentiment was echoed by Nguyen Van Khoa, CEO of FPT, at the Vietnam AI Forum (AI360) 2025. Khoa stated that while 2023 was the ‘Year of Proof of Concepts,’ 2025 signifies ‘The Year of Business Value.’ He emphasized that generative AI and autonomous AI agents are fundamentally transforming business operations, positioning AI as a foundational technology akin to electricity or the internet. For Vietnam, this represents a ‘golden opportunity to accelerate development.’
Evidence of this rapid adoption is compelling: in just one year, the share of AI-implementing businesses in Vietnam climbed from 13% to 18%, encompassing nearly 170,000 companies. In 2024 alone, an average of five new enterprises embraced AI every hour, contributing to a 39% year-on-year market growth. This signals a strong wave of investment and confidence in AI as a new engine for economic expansion.
Leading the supply of AI solutions are sectors such as IT (31%), finance and banking (22%), education (17%), and health care and e-commerce (15%). Concurrently, demand for AI has been surging, particularly in education (23%), finance (26%), manufacturing (21%), transport (15%), and health care (16%).
To fully capitalize on this potential, experts at the AI360 forum stressed the necessity of establishing a robust domestic AI market where businesses can innovate, commercialize, and compete effectively. Huynh Quang Liem, CEO of the Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group (VNPT), proposed that the Government actively involve enterprises in major AI-driven national projects. These include the operation of national GPU infrastructure, the development of indigenous Vietnamese large language models (LLMs), and the creation of AI platforms to support public administration. Such government-catalyzed R&D and market creation models have proven successful in advanced economies like South Korea, Singapore, and the UAE.
Vietnam’s planned national GPU infrastructure, envisioned as a state-invested and enterprise-operated model, is crucial for providing the computational power necessary for advanced AI development. Furthermore, a Vietnamese LLM is seen as a foundational element for developing competitive AI applications tailored to local language and culture. VNPT has already successfully piloted an AI-powered administrative support system in Ho Chi Minh City’s Digital Transformation Centre, with plans for nationwide scaling.

Globally, the AI services market is forecast by Forbes to reach $243 billion in 2025 and an astounding $826.7 billion by 2030, growing at an annual rate of 28%. Vietnam’s proactive stance and significant investment indicate its ambition to not only participate but also lead in this transformative technological era, bridging the gap between cutting-edge innovation and large-scale, ROI-driven application.
