The announcement was made on September 19, 2025, following the award presentation during the BoxWorks closing keynote on September 11, 2025. The SMB AI Disruptor Award, newly introduced in 2025, aims to celebrate organizations that demonstrate exceptional agility and significant impact through the strategic integration of artificial intelligence. Honorees are recognized for their ability to leverage AI-powered tools to streamline processes, optimize employee time, and facilitate more intelligent decision-making across their operations.

Valmark’s nomination by Box’s account team highlighted the company’s proactive engagement with Box AI features, its valuable feedback on product capabilities, and its collaborative work with Box AI Studio. The financial group has successfully deployed AI across critical workflows within both its life insurance and investment operations, showcasing a tangible commitment to technological advancement.
