During his address at the Tech Senate North 2025 in New Delhi, Ghosh articulated how AI is moving beyond theoretical concepts to deliver tangible outcomes across various operational facets.
Ghosh highlighted AI’s capability to significantly enhance predictive analytics, enabling companies to foresee trends and potential issues with greater accuracy. He also pointed to AI’s role in ‘interventional activities,’ such as regulating energy flow in machines to optimize consumption and prevent waste. According to Ghosh, AI can bring ‘a lot of dynamics and dimensional changes’ to how data is viewed, stored, and retrieved, ultimately unlocking substantial value for organizations.
Uno Minda, a company with a significant global footprint and a target of moving 100% of its workloads to the cloud by 2024, is actively integrating advanced technologies into its operations. Ghosh stressed that AI’s effectiveness hinges on the availability of ‘clean data’ and a ‘good vision’ with ‘good use cases’ to solve specific problems. He noted that many enterprises, including Uno Minda, are deploying AI to scale operations, improve predictability, generate revenue, and reduce costs, particularly in areas like energy consumption.
In the context of supply chain management, a critical area for manufacturers, Ghosh explained that AI, when fed with clean data and guided by clear problem definitions, can be a significant boon. The automotive industry, facing rapid disruptions with vehicle lifecycles shrinking to 2-3 years, necessitates robust CRM applications. Ghosh emphasized that modern CRM systems must incorporate advanced analytics and AI to provide accurate predictions and forecasting based on customer demands, geopolitical scenarios, and economic conditions, thereby optimizing production.
Beyond AI, Uno Minda is also focusing on other transformative technologies. The company has been embracing a multi-cloud strategy, working with multiple cloud service providers to leverage their unique strengths and achieve economies of scale, flexibility, and enhanced security. Furthermore, Uno Minda has embarked on an Industry 4.0 journey, with major IoT implementations in several units, aiming for completely digitized factories from ‘gate in to gate out’ to improve efficiency, productivity, quality, and safety.
