Ukrainian Defense Tech Firm The Fourth Law Secures International Funding for AI-Powered Drone Systems

TLDR: Kyiv-based defense technology company, The Fourth Law (TFL), has successfully raised its first round of funding from venture capital funds and angel investors across the European Union, the United States, and Canada. The investment will accelerate the development and mass production of TFL’s AI-powered autonomy modules for FPV drones, which are already in use by the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

Kyiv, Ukraine – The Fourth Law (TFL), a pioneering Ukrainian defense technology company founded by entrepreneur Yaroslav Azhniuk, has announced a significant milestone, securing its inaugural round of funding from a consortium of venture capital funds and angel investors spanning the European Union, the United States, and Canada. This crucial investment is set to bolster the company’s efforts in developing and mass-producing advanced artificial intelligence systems for FPV (First Person View) drones, which are proving vital on the modern battlefield.

TFL has for the first time publicly unveiled its flagship product, the TFL-1 autonomy module. This innovative module empowers FPV drones with ‘last-mile’ autonomy, allowing them to fly autonomously during the critical final 500 meters of their mission and operate in cruise mode. The system leverages sophisticated artificial intelligence algorithms, enabling the drone’s on-board computer to take control, thereby overcoming challenges posed by electronic warfare (EW) and radio horizon obstacles, and significantly enhancing pilot efficiency. The company emphasizes that the TFL-1 module is designed for mass production, with capabilities to produce hundreds of thousands of units per month, and its cost-effectiveness ensures it can be integrated into virtually every FPV drone, increasing their overall cost by only 10-20% while substantially boosting mission success rates.

Beyond the standalone module, TFL also supplies the Lupynis-10-TFL-1 system to the Ukrainian Defense Forces. This comprehensive unmanned aerial system (UAS) includes one hundred 10-inch FPV drones equipped with the TFL-1 autonomy module, a ground control station, and auxiliary equipment. These drones are capable of striking targets up to 30 kilometers away with a 1 kg payload, and can carry a maximum payload of 3.5 kg over shorter distances. The TFL-1 module’s versatility is further highlighted by its integration into drones from over a dozen other major FPV manufacturers, demonstrating its broad applicability across the industry.

Yaroslav Azhniuk, founder and CEO of The Fourth Law, underscored the strategic importance of their work, stating, “Mass-scalable drone autonomy is arguably the most important defense technology of this decade. No one in the world understands this better than Ukraine’s Defense Forces. We are doing the most important work of our lives, and the funding from investors is a critical catalyst for strengthening the defense capabilities of the Free World.”

The effectiveness of TFL’s technology has been validated on the front lines. Colonel Ruslan Shevchuk, Commander of the 58th Separate Motorised Infantry Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, provided a compelling endorsement: “Since March 2025, pilots of the 58th Separate Motorised Infantry Brigade have been utilising aircraft equipped with the TFL-1 system, which has demonstrated its effectiveness on the battlefield during this period. It helps us overcome electronic warfare and jamming, acquire and strike targets in challenging conditions. Its capabilities are most notably demonstrated during special missions. Our operational experience confirms it as a truly effective system.”

TFL’s products have undergone the necessary codification procedures and are actively deployed by units within the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Looking ahead, The Fourth Law plans to incrementally advance drone autonomy, moving from assisting in the final flight stage to enabling fully autonomous takeoff and landing. The company also aims to integrate its technology into various other platforms, including fixed-wing drones, missiles, and naval drones. Following its successful military deployment, TFL intends to explore civilian applications for its autonomous systems in sectors such as logistics, construction, and agriculture.
