Trojan Horse Media, the acclaimed Emmy-nominated production company behind successful projects such as the Netflix documentary ‘Mucho Mucho Amor: The Legend of Walter Mercado’ and HBO Max’s ‘Menudo: Forever Young,’ has announced a strategic expansion of its creative leadership team with three pivotal appointments. These new roles are designed to enhance the company’s capabilities in emerging technologies and growing content formats.
Leading the charge in innovation, award-winning documentary filmmaker and creative technologist Joey Daoud has been named Head of AI, a newly established position. Daoud’s mandate is to ethically integrate artificial intelligence across Trojan Horse Media’s creative and production processes, from development to post-production. This appointment is part of a strategic partnership with VP Land, a media publication, technology company, and YouTube channel founded by Daoud himself, which focuses on the intersection of AI and storytelling. Kareem Tabsch, co-founder of Trojan Horse Media, expressed his enthusiasm for Daoud’s addition, stating, ‘Joey and I have been collaborators for over a decade. His technical brilliance and storytelling instincts make him the ideal partner to help us explore what’s next.’ Daoud’s extensive work has been featured on prominent platforms including Netflix, Hulu, National Geographic, and The New York Times.
Further strengthening the team, Margaret Katcher has been appointed Head of Audio, another newly created role. Katcher, an award-winning producer, journalist, and story editor, will be responsible for overseeing Trojan Horse Media’s expanding podcast portfolio. Her impressive background includes leading audio projects such as ‘Silenced: The Radio Murders,’ which won the National Press Club’s Arthur E. Rowse Award, and National Geographic’s ‘The Trafficked Podcast with Mariana van Zeller.’ She also hosts the Emmy-winning science video series ‘Deep Look’ from KQED and PBS Digital Studios. A statement from the company highlighted Katcher’s qualifications, noting, ‘She brings journalistic rigor, charm on and behind the mic, and the kind of sensitivity that makes her an exceptional storyteller. She’s the perfect person to lead our audio division.’
In addition to these new hires, Elizabeth Schuetzle has been promoted to Development Coordinator. In her elevated role, Schuetzle will provide crucial support for the company’s film, television, and audio projects currently in active development. Trojan Horse Media lauded Schuetzle’s contributions, emphasizing her instrumental role in research, pitch strategy, and cross-functional coordination since joining the team.
