Trados Unveils Advanced AI-Driven Project Intelligence for Localization Industry

TLDR: Trados, a leading language technology platform by RWS, has launched ‘AI-Powered Project Intelligence,’ featuring ‘Smart Insights,’ an LLM-powered virtual assistant, and enhanced generative translation capabilities. This innovation aims to revolutionize localization project management by providing real-time, actionable data and improving translation quality and efficiency.

MAIDENHEAD, England – RWS, a global leader in content solutions, has announced the launch of ‘AI-Powered Project Intelligence’ within its Trados language technology platform. This significant advancement, unveiled on August 11, 2025, introduces ‘Smart Insights,’ an industry-first, LLM-powered virtual assistant designed to transform how localization professionals manage complex global content projects.

Smart Insights addresses the inherent unpredictability of localization projects, where deadlines, resources, and priorities frequently shift. This virtual assistant allows project managers to navigate these complexities by answering everyday questions in plain language. For instance, users can query, ‘Trados, please tell me which projects are at risk this week? Where are we seeing delays?’ or ‘Can you show me projected performance trends across all my clients for the next quarter? And highlight any upcoming translation tasks under 500 words that might impact my delivery timelines?’

Mark Lawyer, President of Regulated Industries & Linguistic AI at RWS, emphasized the transformative nature of this release, stating, ‘Smart Insights changes the game for localization. We’re putting real-time project intelligence directly in the hands of the people who need it. No dashboards, no delays, just instant answers.’

Powered by Amazon Q in QuickSight, Smart Insights is now included as a standard feature for Trados Enterprise subscribers, granting them immediate access to advanced project visibility and control. For Trados Team and Trados Accelerate customers, Smart Insights is available as an optional upgrade, ensuring that businesses of all sizes can leverage this powerful new capability.

Beyond Smart Insights, Trados’s AI-Powered Project Intelligence also encompasses enhanced generative translation capabilities through its ‘AI Assistant.’ This feature allows translators to access generative translation within the Trados Studio desktop application, combining large language models with existing linguistic resources to improve translation output. It can automatically implement terminology, adjust tone of voice, or shorten sentences, offering interactive suggestions or pre-translating files.

Furthermore, the Trados platform has long integrated machine translation (MT) via ‘Language Weaver,’ an early form of Linguistic AI, providing instant translation that can be used independently or refined through post-editing within workflows.
