The Times Network India Health Summit & Awards 2025, held on October 4, 2025, convened leading medical experts and industry stakeholders to discuss the evolving landscape of healthcare in India, with a significant focus on the ethical and responsible integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI). A key takeaway from the summit was the unanimous agreement among experts that AI should be viewed as a powerful enabler within the healthcare sector, designed to complement and enhance clinical expertise rather than serving as a replacement for human judgment.
A dedicated panel discussion, “AI and Data-Driven Care: The New Backbone of Indian Healthcare,” featured prominent speakers including Arvind Pachhapur, Chief Commercial Officer -CDX, Strand Life Sciences; Dr. Abel George, CEO Apollo Adlux Hospital; and Deepak Sahni, Founder of Healthians. These experts collectively highlighted AI’s transformative potential across various facets of healthcare, such as improving diagnostics, refining treatment planning, and optimizing overall patient care.
Dr. Abel George underscored the critical importance of the clinician in the responsible application of AI. He stated that while hospitals bear the liability for adhering to regulatory guidelines and frameworks like FDA approvals, the ultimate responsibility for the ethical and effective use of AI in improving diagnostic decisions rests with the medical professional.
Deepak Sahni elaborated on AI’s proactive capabilities, particularly in fostering healthier habits and preventing lifestyle diseases. He proposed that AI-based data could be instrumental in instilling good health practices from an early age, emphasizing the power of data to inform government policies on health education in schools. Sahni suggested that early education on the importance of daily exercise could significantly reduce the incidence of various diseases later in life.
