Toronto, Canada – August 6, 2025 – Thomson Reuters (TSX/Nasdaq: TRI) today reported robust financial results for its second quarter ended June 30, 2025, showcasing continued revenue momentum significantly bolstered by its strategic investments in artificial intelligence. The global content and technology company announced a 3% increase in total revenues, reaching $1.78 billion, up from $1.74 billion in the same period last year. Organic revenues, a key indicator of underlying business health, surged by 7%.
The company’s core ‘Big 3′ segments—Legal Professionals, Corporates, and Tax & Accounting Professionals—demonstrated exceptional performance, collectively achieving a 9% organic revenue growth. These segments now account for approximately 82-83% of Thomson Reuters’ total revenues, highlighting their critical role in the company’s overall success.
Profitability metrics also showed strength. Adjusted earnings per share (EPS) rose to $0.87, surpassing analyst expectations of $0.82 and up from $0.85 in the prior year. Adjusted EBITDA increased by 5% to $678 million, with margins expanding by 70 basis points to 37.8%. Net cash provided by operating activities grew 5% to $746 million, and free cash flow increased 4% to $566 million. While IFRS diluted EPS saw a decline to $0.69 from $1.86 a year ago, primarily due to currency losses and other factors, the company’s underlying operational performance remained strong.
A central theme of the quarter’s success was the impactful integration and launch of advanced artificial intelligence capabilities. Thomson Reuters introduced new agentic AI solutions designed to leverage its extensive content and tools across its legal, tax, and accounting markets. These innovations include CoCounsel Legal, featuring Deep Research on Westlaw and guided workflows, as well as CoCounsel for tax, audit, and accounting, which automate tasks for users.
