The Browser Company, a notable player in the browser innovation space, has officially rolled out a ‘Pro Plan’ for its artificial intelligence-integrated web browser, Dia. This new subscription tier, priced at $20 per month, offers users unlimited access to Dia’s advanced AI-powered chat and skills functionalities. The introduction of this premium offering comes as the company navigates a competitive market increasingly shaped by the rise of AI-driven search capabilities.
Prior to this launch, Dia, which remains in beta, provided its AI features without explicit usage caps. However, with the debut of the Pro Plan, free users will now experience limitations on their AI feature usage. While specific thresholds for these limits have not been detailed by the company, CEO Josh Miller previously indicated to The New York Times that the Dia browser would continue to be free for individuals who utilize AI features ‘a few times a week.’ Miller also hinted at a broader strategy for tiered subscriptions, suggesting plans could range from $5 to several hundred dollars monthly, with the $20 Pro Plan serving as one of several options tailored to different feature sets.
This strategic pivot into a subscription model represents a significant milestone for The Browser Company, marking its inaugural revenue-generating service. The company has successfully secured $128 million in funding from investors, underscoring confidence in its vision and products. The launch of Dia itself followed the company’s decision to discontinue its earlier offering, the Arc browser, and pivot towards an AI-centric approach.

Dia distinguishes itself with a familiar browser interface complemented by a sidebar housing an intuitive AI assistant. This assistant is designed to understand the user’s current context, recall browsing history, and facilitate task completion, aiming to streamline the online experience. The company’s move is timely, as the broader digital landscape is witnessing a substantial shift towards AI-enhanced browsing and search. Data indicates a growing trend of users opting for AI-powered chatbots over traditional search engines; in June, 5.6% of desktop searches in the United States were directed to chatbots, a notable increase from 2.48% in June 2024 and 1.3% in January 2024. Furthermore, platforms like ChatGPT.com have ascended to become the fifth-most visited website globally, highlighting the profound impact of AI on information access and consumption. The Browser Company’s Pro Plan is a direct response to this evolving user behavior and the intensifying competition from other AI-enhanced browsers and emerging AI agents, such as Perplexity’s planned Comet browser, which are redefining how users interact with the internet.
