Starburst also opened submissions for its 2025 Data Visionary Awards, recognizing excellence in data and AI innovation.
Starburst, a leading data platform for applications and artificial intelligence, has officially unveiled details for its highly anticipated AI & Datanova 2025 summit. This exclusive in-person event is set to convene senior data and technology leaders, including Chief Data Officers (CDOs), Chief Information Officers (CIOs), Chief Technology Officers (CTOs), chief architects, and Starburst power users, on October 9, 2025, at The Westin New York Times Square.
The summit’s core objective is to provide attendees with actionable strategies, innovative insights, and best practices for transforming enterprise data into tangible AI outcomes. The comprehensive program will feature a diverse range of keynotes, compelling customer success stories, and in-depth technical sessions.
Key themes to be explored at AI & Datanova 2025 include the emerging era of Enterprise Agents – autonomous, AI-powered systems capable of executing complex business tasks across an organization. Discussions will also delve into the critical data readiness challenge, emphasizing why high-quality, governed, and accessible data will be the decisive factor in AI success over the next three to five years. Furthermore, the event will outline a blueprint for enabling AI at enterprise scale, highlighting the pivotal roles of federated query, robust governance, and real-time data access in powering next-generation applications.
Justin Borgman, CEO and co-founder of Starburst, is slated to deliver a keynote address that will expand on these themes, offering concrete strategies and real-world customer examples of how leading organizations are establishing strong data foundations to fully capitalize on the AI revolution. Additional featured speakers will include executives and senior leaders from prominent companies such as Arity, Expedia, and OCBC Bank.
Lisa Luscap, Chief Marketing Officer at Starburst, underscored the summit’s value, stating, “AI & Datanova 2025 is designed to give data and technology leaders the strategies, insights, and peer connections they need to drive tangible AI outcomes.”
In conjunction with the summit, Starburst has also announced that submissions are now open for the 2025 Data Visionary Awards. These prestigious awards aim to honor customers and partners who are demonstrating exceptional use of data and AI to deliver transformative results and redefine industry possibilities. Award categories include the AI & Data Visionary Award, Executive AI & Data Visionary Award, Data AI Award, Impact Through AI Award, Data Pathfinder Award, and Data Disruptor Award.
This summit builds upon Starburst’s recent advancements in AI capabilities. In May 2025, Starburst introduced new AI platform features designed to accelerate enterprise AI and agents. These include Starburst AI Workflows, which encompass vector-native AI search, AI SQL functions, and AI model access governance functions. The AI search capabilities feature a built-in vector store that enables users to convert data into vector embeddings and perform searches against them. Notably, Starburst is pioneering the storage of these vector embeddings directly within Apache Iceberg, the open format around which its lakehouse platform is built. This integration allows for a full end-to-end Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) workflow within the Starburst lakehouse.
Starburst’s platform, centered around Trino, a fast SQL query engine, is increasingly chosen by customers for its hybrid lakehouse capabilities. The company’s focus on mixing SQL functionality with its AI push is evident in the new AI SQL features, which allow users to run prompts and built-in Large Language Model (LLM) tasks directly from SQL commands. Starburst also unveiled a pre-built AI agent for out-of-the-box insight exploration.
