Spanish AI Accounting Firm Kabilio Secures €4 Million Pre-Seed Funding to Boost Productivity

TLDR: Barcelona-based Kabilio has successfully raised €4 million in pre-Seed funding, including €200,000 in public funding from ENISA, to expand its AI-driven platform. This platform aims to automate accounting and tax processes for Spanish firms, significantly increasing productivity by up to 50% and addressing talent retention challenges in the sector. The investment, led by Visionaries Club and Picus Capital, positions Kabilio as a key player in modernizing European accounting.

Barcelona, Spain – Kabilio, an innovative startup specializing in artificial intelligence solutions for the accounting and tax sector, has announced the successful closure of a €4 million pre-Seed funding round. This substantial investment, which includes €200,000 in public funding from ENISA, is set to propel Kabilio’s mission to revolutionize Spanish accounting firms by enhancing productivity by up to 50% through advanced AI tools. The round was co-led by prominent international venture capital funds Visionaries Club and Picus Capital, marking one of Spain’s largest early-stage financings in AI-powered accounting.

Founded in 2024 by experienced entrepreneurs José Ojeda (formerly of McKinsey, Rocket Internet, and 011h) and Álex Valls (formerly of Social Point, Exoticca, and 011h), Kabilio emerged from a deep understanding of the inefficiencies plaguing the accounting industry. “We saw firsthand the inefficient and stressful workflow between accounting firms and their clients—the familiar end-of-quarter rush where advisors are overwhelmed with late and incomplete information. It’s a major pain point for everyone involved, and one we understood deeply,” stated Jose Ojeda, co-CEO and founder of Kabilio. He added, “With the recent advances in generative AI, we recognised a powerful new way to solve this long-standing problem. We saw a unique opportunity to apply cutting-edge technology to modernise a critical part of our economy, automating the most repetitive and time-consuming tasks so advisors can focus on higher-value work.”

The company’s AI-driven platform is designed to automate routine accounting and tax tasks, thereby freeing up professionals to concentrate on strategic advisory services rather than administrative paperwork. This approach directly addresses the challenge of attracting and retaining talent in accounting firms, where repetitive tasks often lead to disengagement and high turnover. Kabilio’s platform has already gained the trust of nearly 100 accounting firms, which are reporting significant productivity gains.

Kabilio’s current product suite includes three integrated solutions:

Intelligent invoice processing: This feature allows firms to receive and process documents from various channels (email, Dropbox, etc.), handling complex invoices such as intra-community and extra-community transactions, reverse charge VAT, and multiple invoices within a single file. The system boasts a 97% accuracy rate in suggesting appropriate accounting accounts based on invoice content and company activity.

Advanced bank reconciliation: The platform securely connects with 99% of Spanish banks, automating the matching of transactions to invoices using AI rules. This eliminates the need for manual statement requests and uploads, allowing advisors to review and edit all information in a unified environment.

Verifactu-Compliant invoicing: A modern and intuitive tool for SMEs and freelancers to issue customized invoices, synchronizing all information with their advisors in real-time, thus streamlining data exchange.

Beyond these offerings, Kabilio is currently piloting its AI agent, “Kabi,” which is being officially unveiled at Accountex Spain 2025. Kabi will initially enable users to query and extract information from the platform using natural language, with future iterations planned to support broader management actions.

The funding round underscores a broader trend of increasing investment in AI-driven financial software across Europe in 2025. Robert Jäckle, Partner at Visionaries Club, commented on the investment, “Kabilio brings AI to the heart of advisory firms not to replace accountants, but to make their work smarter and more valuable. They are not creating ‘hype’; they are solving a real operational problem. We believe Kabilio can become the leading platform for modern accounting in Europe.” Florian Reichert, Managing Director at Picus Capital, echoed this sentiment, adding that the platform “will enable advisors to collaborate more efficiently with their clients, leveraging AI to automate the most tedious tasks and generate strategic value.”

With approximately 65,000 accounting and tax advisory firms in Spain serving millions of SMEs and freelancers, the market presents significant opportunities for Kabilio. The company plans to utilize the new capital to expand its engineering and commercial teams, develop new features, and solidify its presence across Spain before considering expansion into other European markets. “Only once we have truly succeeded in Spain will we consider entering other markets. International expansion will come naturally as the next step, but only after we have proven our model and consolidated our leadership at home,” concluded Ojeda. Álex Valls emphasized the broader impact, stating, “Artificial intelligence will not only optimise processes but will also change the nature of work and the relationship between advisory firms and their clients. Our goal is to build the infrastructure that makes this new paradigm possible.”
