SoundHound AI, a global leader in voice artificial intelligence, has announced the acquisition of Amelia, a prominent enterprise AI software company, in a deal valued at $80 million in cash and equity. This strategic move is set to position SoundHound AI as a dominant force in voice and conversational generative AI, significantly expanding its reach across diverse industries including retail, financial services, healthcare, automotive, smart devices, and restaurants.

The acquisition combines decades of experience in conversational AI and highly complementary product portfolios, enabling the unified company to offer best-in-class, scalable customer service support to a vast spectrum of businesses. This includes some of the largest multinational enterprise brands, top 15 global banks, and Fortune 500 organizations, with the combined entity now serving nearly 200 marquee customers.

Keyvan Mohajer, CEO and Co-Founder of SoundHound AI, stated, “SoundHound AI has emerged as a leader in bringing voice-enabled conversational AI to products and services. Now, with more businesses choosing voice AI technology for customer service—and more consumers expecting a seamless, AI-powered service—this acquisition positions SoundHound as a strong force with range, scale, and world-class technology.” Lanham Napier, President of Amelia and Co-Founder of BuildGroup, added, “We’re excited to bring Amelia’s experience and relationships to SoundHound AI, bolstering the company’s growing AI customer service business to form a new category leader in the space.”

Financially, the deal includes partial payment and assumption of Amelia’s debt, with future earnout potential tied to revenue milestone achievements. Upon closing, the combined company holds approximately $160 million in cash and $39 million in debt. The acquisition is expected to be accretive to SoundHound’s earnings in the second half of 2025. Projections indicate that the combined revenue in 2025 is likely to exceed $150 million, with Amelia contributing over $45 million in recurring AI software revenue.

This integration is not merely about adding features but creating a synergistic flywheel. Amelia’s virtual agents can now leverage SoundHound’s advanced voice capabilities for complex, natural-language interactions, while SoundHound’s voice commerce ecosystem gains Amelia’s enterprise-grade AI for critical tasks like medical appointment scheduling or financial account management. Amelia’s technology also forms the foundation for SoundHound’s new voice-powered agentic AI technology, exemplified by the launch of the Amelia 7 platform, which facilitates low- to no-code development of AI agents and integrates SoundHound’s Polaris speech recognition engine.
