SK Telecom’s ‘A. Dot’ Evolves into Intelligent Agent with Version 4.0 and Advanced AI Workflow

TLDR: SK Telecom has launched ‘A. Dot’ Version 4.0, transforming its AI service from a simple assistant to an intelligent agent. This update integrates ‘Agentic Workflow’ technology, enabling the AI to autonomously set goals, plan tasks, and collaborate, marking a significant step in personalized AI assistance.

SK Telecom announced on August 4, 2025, the release of ‘A. Dot’ Version 4.0, a significant upgrade to its artificial intelligence service. This latest iteration moves beyond a conventional AI assistant, evolving into an ‘intelligent agent’ capable of understanding context and making autonomous decisions. The core of this transformation is the integration of ‘Agentic Workflow,’ a cutting-edge AI technology that allows the AI to autonomously set goals and plan necessary tasks based on previous conversation history and stored information, departing from traditional command execution methods.

Experts recognize ‘Agentic Workflow’ as a next-generation AI architecture. A. Dot 4.0 fully incorporates this technology, performing four key functions: Planning, Tool Use, Multi-Agent Collaboration, and Reflection and Feedback. Notably, SK Telecom has developed a custom ‘Agent Orchestrator’ for A. Dot. This orchestrator analyzes user requests and automatically connects the most appropriate subordinate agents, eliminating the need for users to manually select features and providing a more natural and seamless experience.

Since its launch 22 months ago, ‘A. Dot’ has garnered over 10 million subscribers, with approximately 8.1 million monthly active users. The service is accessible across various platforms, including apps, web, Btv, and chat+. Kim Yong-hoon, Head of A. Dot Business Division at SK Telecom, stated, “Version 4.0 signifies a crucial turning point where ‘A. Dot’ evolves from a simple conversational service to a true AI agent that remembers and assists with users’ daily lives. We will continue to enhance personalized features to deliver an even deeper, tailored experience.”

This development follows SK Telecom’s broader strategic focus on AI. In March 2025, SK Telecom announced an upgrade to its AI agent ‘adot’ (likely referring to A. Dot), integrating Google’s Gemini 2.0 Flash. This update expanded the selection of AI models available to users across five global AI platforms: SKT’s A.X, GPT, Claude, Perplexity, and Gemini, totaling 12 AI models. The Gemini 2.0 Flash integration improved response speed and performance, demonstrating twice the speed of its predecessor, Pro 1.5, in benchmark tests, while also enhancing answer reliability through real-time search integration.

Furthermore, SK Telecom is enhancing A. Dot’s functionality by incorporating Perplexity Sonar Pro and GPT o3-mini, which are particularly useful for solving complex logical problems and advanced mathematical equations. Kim Yong-hoon emphasized that ‘adot’ is a premier platform for comparing and utilizing various global AI models, from A.X to ChatGPT, and that the company will continue to expand its AI offerings and improve user convenience.

In January 2025, SK Telecom also announced plans for a beta version of ‘Aster,’ an ‘agentic AI’ targeting North American users, set for release in March 2025. Aster is designed to go beyond simple Q&A by understanding user intentions to set goals, make plans, and complete tasks on their behalf, focusing on life management with personalized planning, execution, reminders, and advice.
