SentinelOne Bolsters AI Security Capabilities with Acquisition of Prompt Security

TLDR: SentinelOne has announced a definitive agreement to acquire Prompt Security, a pioneer in AI runtime security. This strategic move aims to integrate Prompt Security’s advanced generative AI (GenAI) and agentic AI protection into SentinelOne’s AI-native Singularity Platform, offering enterprises enhanced visibility, control, and threat prevention against AI-related risks like data leakage and prompt injection. The transaction, involving a combination of cash and stock, is expected to close in SentinelOne’s third fiscal quarter of 2026.

Mountain View, CA – SentinelOne (NYSE: S), a leading AI-native cybersecurity company, has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Prompt Security, a Tel Aviv, Israel-based innovator specializing in securing AI in runtime. The acquisition, announced on August 5, 2025, is a pivotal step in SentinelOne’s strategy to expand its AI-native Singularityâ„¢ Platform, addressing the rapidly growing need for robust security in generative AI (GenAI) and agentic AI environments within the enterprise.

Prompt Security’s technology is designed to provide immediate visibility into all GenAI usage across an organization, enabling secure and controlled employee interaction with AI tools. This includes mitigating “shadow AI” risks and allowing confident adoption of popular large language models (LLMs) such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, and Cursor, as well as custom LLMs, without compromising visibility, security, or control.

The integration of Prompt Security’s AI defense platform with SentinelOne’s existing AI-powered endpoint, cloud, data, and SecOps capabilities is set to deliver a comprehensive approach to AI security, spanning from infrastructure to user interaction. Key benefits for SentinelOne customers post-acquisition will include real-time visibility into AI tool access and data sharing, policy-based controls to enforce safe AI usage, block high-risk prompts, and prevent sensitive data leakage. Furthermore, it will offer advanced AI threat prevention against prompt injection, malicious output manipulation, and model abuse.

Tomer Weingarten, CEO of SentinelOne, emphasized the significance of this acquisition, stating, “AI is the most transformative force in the world today—but without security, it becomes a liability. With Prompt Security, we’re making it possible for every company to fully embrace GenAI and agentic AI without compromising safety and security. This is the foundation for secure AI adoption at scale.”

Itamar Golan, CEO and co-founder of Prompt Security, echoed this sentiment, highlighting the evolving nature of AI risks: “As enterprise adoption of GenAI and agentic AI accelerates, the security and privacy risks are rapidly shifting from theoretical to operational. SentinelOne shares our passion for empowering teams and organizations to embrace AI as a distinct advantage, while delivering real-time, automated protection built for the AI-native world.”

Prompt Security’s technology integrates seamlessly across browsers, desktop applications, and APIs, providing real-time protection at the point of interaction. This approach is crucial for stopping prompt injections, data leakage, and misuse, complementing SentinelOne’s endpoint platform to create a unique, integrated layer for GenAI security.
