TLDR: SentinelOne has announced its acquisition of Prompt Security, a strategic move aimed at addressing the growing challenge of ‘shadow AI’ within organizations. This acquisition will integrate Prompt Security’s real-time visibility and control capabilities for generative and agentic AI tools into SentinelOne’s Singularity Platform, enabling enterprises to securely adopt AI technologies while mitigating risks like data leakage and prompt injection.
In a significant development for enterprise cybersecurity, SentinelOne has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Prompt Security, a pioneer in securing AI in runtime and preventing AI-related data leakage. This acquisition, announced on August 6, 2025, is a direct response to the escalating concerns surrounding ‘shadow AI’—the unauthorized and unmonitored use of generative AI tools like ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini by employees within corporate environments.
‘Shadow AI’ presents a critical blind spot for security teams, leading to potential prompt leaks, sensitive data exposure, misuse, and a general lack of governance. SentinelOne’s strategic move aims to provide comprehensive solutions for managing this challenge, ensuring that organizations can fully embrace the transformative power of AI without compromising safety and security.
Prompt Security’s technology is designed to offer real-time visibility into AI usage across the enterprise, detailing which tools are being utilized, by whom, and what data is being shared. It provides policy-based controls to enforce safe usage, block high-risk prompts, and prevent data leaks. Furthermore, the platform offers robust AI attack prevention, including protection against prompt injection and model abuse. Its model-agnostic design ensures coverage for a wide range of AI tools, from those offered by OpenAI, Google, and Anthropic to self-hosted models, providing protection at the point of interaction rather than after the fact.
According to Tomer Weingarten, CEO of SentinelOne, ‘AI is the most transformative force in the world today—but without security, it becomes a liability. With Prompt Security, we’re making it possible for every company to fully embrace GenAI and agentic AI without compromising safety and security. This is the foundation for secure AI adoption at scale.’
Itamar Golan, CEO and co-founder of Prompt Security, echoed this sentiment, stating, ‘As enterprise adoption of GenAI and agentic AI accelerates, the security and privacy risks are rapidly shifting from theoretical to operational. SentinelOne shares our passion for empowering teams and organisations to embrace AI as a distinct advantage, while delivering real-time, automated protection built for the AI-native world.’
The integration of Prompt Security’s capabilities into SentinelOne’s AI-native Singularity Platform will enhance its existing endpoint, cloud, data, and SecOps offerings with advanced AI defense. This will give security teams deeper control over how AI is accessed and what data is shared, enabling them to enforce safeguards without hindering innovation or adoption speed. For Managed Security Service Providers (MSSPs), this acquisition is particularly timely, as it will enhance SentinelOne’s ability to support clients managing diverse AI environments. Bryce Grow, VP of Channels Americas at SentinelOne, noted that the addition of Prompt Security will allow MSSPs to ‘more rapidly detect anomalies, enforce policy-based controls, and deliver more targeted threat intelligence’ by providing real-time visibility into AI tool usage.
