SAP to Acquire SmartRecruiters, Bolstering AI-Powered Talent Acquisition within SuccessFactors HCM Suite

TLDR: SAP has announced its agreement to acquire SmartRecruiters, a leading talent acquisition software provider, with the transaction anticipated to finalize in Q4 2025. This strategic move aims to significantly enhance SAP’s SuccessFactors human capital management (HCM) suite by integrating SmartRecruiters’ expertise in high-volume recruiting, recruitment automation, and AI-enabled candidate experiences. The acquisition will enable SAP to offer a comprehensive, unified platform for managing the entire candidate lifecycle, from initial sourcing to onboarding, and is expected to strengthen SAP’s position in the AI-driven talent management market.

SAP (NYSE: SAP) and SmartRecruiters have jointly announced that SAP has entered into an agreement to acquire SmartRecruiters, a prominent talent acquisition (TA) software provider. This acquisition is poised to significantly augment SAP’s SuccessFactors human capital management (HCM) suite, integrating SmartRecruiters’ specialized capabilities in high-volume recruiting, recruitment automation, and AI-enabled candidate experience and engagement. The transaction is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2025, pending customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals. The terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

SmartRecruiters’ deep expertise is considered an ideal complement to SAP’s existing HCM offerings. The planned integration aims to strengthen SAP’s all-in-one HCM suite, providing customers with enhanced tools to attract and retain top talent in an increasingly competitive global landscape. SmartRecruiters currently serves over 4,000 organizations worldwide with its Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) solutions, enabling efficient end-to-end management of hiring workflows.

Muhammad Alam, member of the Executive Board of SAP SE, SAP Product & Engineering, emphasized the strategic importance of this acquisition, stating, “Hiring the right people is not just an HR priority – it’s a business priority. With this planned acquisition, we will help our customers attract and hire the best talent so they can advance their talent acquisition agendas with speed and agility, while lowering their total cost of ownership.” He added that customers will gain the ability to manage the entire candidate lifecycle—from sourcing and interviewing to onboarding and beyond—all within a single system, streamlining the experience for recruiters, hiring managers, and candidates.

Rebecca Carr, CEO of SmartRecruiters, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, remarking, “SmartRecruiters’ mission has always been to make hiring easy. Joining forces with SAP presents a tremendous opportunity for enterprises worldwide to benefit from our industry-leading approach to talent acquisition. I couldn’t be more excited for the opportunity this planned acquisition presents for our customers, partners and employees as we build the future of hiring together.”
