SAP Bolsters Partner Ecosystem with Free Build Licenses for AI-Powered Development

TLDR: SAP has announced the availability of free SAP Build Partner Licenses for test, demonstration, and development purposes. This initiative aims to empower partners to innovate with low-code, code-first, and generative AI tools, fostering the creation of intelligent applications and solutions within the SAP ecosystem.

SAP is significantly enhancing its partner program by offering free SAP Build test, demo, and development (TDD) licenses to all its partners, effective August 11, 2025. This strategic move is designed to accelerate innovation and facilitate the creation of AI-powered and intelligent applications built on the SAP Business Technology Platform (SAP BTP).

The new offering provides partners with comprehensive access to SAP Build capabilities, including developer, base, and premium user functionalities, runtime, Joule Studio, and ABAP Cloud. Additionally, it includes access to SAP HANA Cloud, SAP’s multi-model database, all within fair use limits. This allows Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) and other partners to develop, test, and deploy applications and proofs of concept with a low initial investment.

SAP Build offers a robust suite of tools encompassing low-code, code-first, and generative AI functionalities. Partners can leverage these tools to create custom Joule skills and agents, develop new applications, automate processes, and design digital workspaces. The goal is to make it easier for partners to bring innovative solutions to market, which can then be sold on the SAP Store, expanding their reach to SAP’s global customer base.

According to Karl Fahrbach, Chief Partner Officer of SAP, and Michael Ameling, President of SAP Business Technology Platform, this initiative further empowers partners to build AI-driven innovations and unlock new possibilities for customers. They emphasize that SAP BTP is the platform that enables partners to innovate, extend, and integrate business applications at scale.

Looking ahead, SAP plans to continue investing in new SAP Build capabilities. In the second half of 2025, SAP Build will integrate with SAP Business Data Cloud (BDC), allowing developers to connect with BDC data products. Furthermore, by early 2026, partners will be able to utilize SAP Build to create intelligent applications and data products that seamlessly integrate with SAP Business Data Cloud. Partners interested in learning more can register for an SAP Build free TDD enablement webinar scheduled for August 13, 2025, and find additional information on the SAP Partner Portal.
