Samsung is bringing a significant upgrade to the Indian smartphone market with the introduction of a new Galaxy S24 variant, featuring the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. This move marks a shift from the Exynos 2400 processor that powered the original Galaxy S24 models launched in India last year, aligning the Indian market with the Snapdragon-equipped versions previously available only in select global regions.
The new Galaxy S24 variant is built around a cutting-edge 4nm processor, promising industry-leading advancements in AI, camera performance, and overall device efficiency. While an exact launch date has not been officially confirmed, Samsung has indicated that the device will be available before the festive season, with strong indications pointing to a release around September 23rd, coinciding with Flipkart’s ‘Big Billion Days’ sale.
Consumers will have a choice of four vibrant colors: Onyx Black, Marble Grey, Amber Yellow, and Cobalt Violet. The smartphone maintains a streamlined one-mass design and boasts a robust 50MP triple camera setup. Enhanced Nightography capabilities, coupled with AI Zoom, ensure brilliant photos and videos even in challenging low-light conditions and when zoomed in. The ‘ProVisual Engine’, a comprehensive suite of AI-powered tools, is designed to transform image capturing and maximize creative freedom for users.
A core highlight of this new Galaxy S24 variant is its extensive ‘Galaxy AI’ feature set. This includes ‘Live Translate’ for two-way, real-time voice and text translations during phone calls within the native app, and ‘Interpreter’ for instant live conversation translation on a split-screen view, functioning even without cellular data or Wi-Fi. ‘Chat Assist’ offers real-time message translation, writing suggestions, and tone adjustments across various messaging applications. For productivity, ‘Note Assist’ in Samsung Notes provides AI-generated summaries and templates for streamlined note-taking. The device also integrates ‘Gemini Live’ for real-time visual conversations with AI and a ‘Now Bar’ for contextual updates directly on the lock screen. AI editing tools allow for simple edits like erase, re-compose, and remaster, with ‘Edit Suggestion’ providing perfectly suitable tweaks for each photo, and ‘Generative Edit’ enabling users to fill in parts of an image background using generative AI.
The Galaxy S24 features a 6.2-inch fullHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X display, capable of reaching up to 2600 nits of peak brightness. Security is paramount, with Samsung Knox safeguarding critical information through end-to-end secure hardware, real-time threat detection, and collaborative protection.
