TLDR: Salesforce has significantly expanded its Agentforce platform, now offering more than 200 prebuilt AI agents designed to streamline and automate diverse enterprise workflows. This rapid expansion, following its October 2024 launch, aims to simplify AI adoption, address implementation challenges, and deliver measurable business impact across various industries.
Salesforce is making significant strides in enterprise automation with the rapid expansion of its Agentforce platform, which now boasts over 200 prebuilt AI agents. This substantial increase from the initial handful available at its October 2024 launch underscores Salesforce’s commitment to addressing the growing demand for ready-made, adaptable AI solutions in the business world.
The initiative directly tackles a key challenge faced by enterprises: the practical implementation of AI agents. Martin Kihn, SVP, Market Strategy, Marketing Cloud at Salesforce, noted, “Customers and partners were excited and optimistic about AI and the agentic future, but there were challenges. One of the most common questions was: Can I really get this to work?” To overcome this reluctance, Salesforce’s product and engineering teams focused on developing a portfolio of off-the-shelf agents that could be quickly deployed and customized.
These prebuilt agents are designed to serve as accessible starting points for businesses. Kihn emphasized, “Most of these prebuilt agents are intended to be a start, a relatively easy way for Salesforce customers to get over any initial reluctance and envision what a custom AI agent could do for them.” This approach has reportedly unlocked significant creativity among users, allowing them to apply AI to a wide range of business problems.
Further enhancing the platform, Salesforce introduced Agentforce 3 in June 2025, focusing on scaling AI agents across large organizations. This update includes new management and transparency features, such as the Command Center, which provides complete agent observability, allowing companies to monitor and understand AI agent performance effectively.
A crucial technical advancement is the support for the Model Context Protocol (MCP). This standard enables different AI systems to share information and collaborate seamlessly, blending Salesforce’s traditional embedded AI approach with overlay AI characteristics. Gary Lerhaupt, VP, Product Architecture of Agentforce, described MCP as “a universal translator for external tools,” while stressing its importance when combined with security, governance, and trust.
The impact of Agentforce is already evident across various sectors. Workflow automation provider Engine reported a 15% decrease in average case processing time. Small business accounting firm 1-800Accountant autonomously managed 70% of administrative interactions during peak periods. Brazilian media conglomerate Grupo Globo achieved a 22% increase in customer retention. According to the upcoming Slack Workforce Index, the deployment of AI agents has surged by 233% in the past six months, with over 8,000 Salesforce clients adopting Agentforce during this period.
Salesforce also launched AgentExchange in March 2025, a marketplace akin to its AppExchange, but dedicated to AI agent skills and capabilities. This platform allows enterprise customers to expand Agentforce AI agents’ functionalities through partnerships with companies like Box Inc. and Docusign Inc., enabling agents to extract insights from unstructured data or manage document signing processes.
Initially, prebuilt agents were developed for key functional areas including service, sales, marketing, commerce, and HR. Examples include Agentforce for Service for customer support, Sales Development and Sales Coaching agents, tools for campaign creation and loyalty program management, and commerce agents like Agentforce Merchant, Personal Shopper, and Buyer. A joint prebuilt agent with Workday also handles common employee HR tasks.
