SAKURA internet Unveils “SAKURA Gen AI PLATFORM” for Streamlined Generative AI Development

TLDR: SAKURA internet has launched “SAKURA Gen AI PLATFORM,” a new fully managed execution platform specifically designed for generative AI applications. This platform aims to simplify the development process by offering access to large language models (LLMs), an API for their ‘High Firepower’ cloud service, and a vector database for Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG), all powered by NVIDIA H100 Tensor Core GPUs.

SAKURA internet Inc. officially announced the launch of its “SAKURA Gen AI PLATFORM” on August 12, 2025. This new offering is a fully managed execution platform engineered to significantly streamline the development and deployment of generative artificial intelligence applications for businesses and developers.

The “SAKURA Gen AI PLATFORM” provides a comprehensive suite of tools and services, including APIs for connecting fully managed generative AI applications and various foundational models, such as Large Language Models (LLMs). A key component of the platform is its integration with SAKURA internet’s existing “High Firepower” cloud service, which is specifically optimized for generative AI workloads and equipped with high-performance NVIDIA H100 Tensor Core GPUs. Additionally, the platform incorporates a vector database crucial for Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) capabilities, making it easier to develop sophisticated AI applications.

The core benefit of this platform is its ability to handle the complexities of infrastructure setup and management. By taking on most of the construction and management of the execution infrastructure, SAKURA internet allows customers to focus primarily on developing their generative AI applications without needing specialized knowledge of LLMs or underlying hardware. This approach is expected to accelerate the pace of AI innovation in Japan.

The platform has already commenced trial implementations, notably at Kyoto University of the Arts, a private educational institution under Uryuyama Gakuen. During this trial, the no-code conversational AI building service “miibo,” developed by Miibo Inc., is being utilized on the SAKURA AI platform, with NEC’s generative AI “cotomi” serving as the base model. Mr. Akio Yamada, NEC Corporate SVP and head of AI Technology Services Division, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, stating that NEC is delighted to install ‘cotomi’ on SAKURA internet’s domestic AI platform, believing it will become a flexible foundation to meet diverse needs and accelerate AI utilization in Japan. He also indicated plans for expanded collaboration between NEC and SAKURA internet to provide safe, secure, and high-quality AI to a wide range of customers.

SAKURA internet emphasizes the platform’s flexibility, allowing users to choose to assemble their entire AI solution, from the foundational models to the applications, using only domestically developed services. The company plans to continuously enhance the platform based on feedback from trial implementations and intends to collaborate with various domestic and international companies to expand the range of available foundational models and applications. This initiative underscores SAKURA internet’s commitment to contributing to the ongoing development of generative AI to meet the escalating demand for AI technologies.
