Sabre Unveils Agentic AI APIs and Model Context Protocol to Revolutionize Travel Automation

TLDR: Sabre Corporation has launched new agentic AI solutions, featuring agentic-ready APIs and a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server. This initiative aims to enable travel agencies, airlines, and developers to seamlessly integrate their AI systems with Sabre’s platform, automating complex tasks such as real-time shopping, booking, and post-booking servicing, thereby reducing manual effort and enhancing personalization.

Sabre Corporation, a leading technology provider to the global travel industry, has announced a significant leap forward in travel automation with the introduction of its new agentic AI solutions. These include a suite of agentic-ready Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) and a proprietary Model Context Protocol (MCP) server, designed to empower travel agencies, airlines, and developers to connect their artificial intelligence systems directly with Sabre’s extensive network.

The core of this innovation is the Model Context Protocol (MCP) server, which Sabre describes as a ‘universal translator’. This protocol simplifies the intricate language of travel technology, making it comprehensible to any AI agent. This capability allows AI systems to autonomously handle a wide array of tasks, from real-time travel shopping and booking to comprehensive post-booking servicing and trip optimization, with minimal to no human intervention. The initial focus areas for these agentic AI capabilities are flights, hotels, and various post-booking services.

These advanced APIs are seamlessly integrated into SabreMosaic, Sabre’s modular, cloud-native retailing platform. This integration ensures that airlines, agencies, and developers can adopt sophisticated AI-driven workflows without the need for extensive re-engineering, promoting scalability, resilience, and trust within the ecosystem. The entire system is underpinned by Sabre IQ, the company’s systemic AI layer, which leverages large language model (LLM) technology, and Sabre’s robust Travel Data Cloud. Developed in partnership with Google, the Travel Data Cloud boasts over 50 petabytes of historical and real-time travel data signals, providing a rich foundation for intelligent operations.

Garry Wiseman, Sabre’s chief product and technology officer, emphasized the strategic importance of this launch, stating, “There’s a difference between being smart and being truly intelligent at scale. With our new MCP server and agentic-ready APIs—supported by Sabre IQ and our industry-leading travel data set—we’re planting a stake in the ground. This is the smartest enterprise AI solution in travel, designed for the entire industry to build on. Future possibilities are becoming reality, and Sabre is driving that change.”

The benefits of these agentic AI solutions are manifold, promising to significantly reduce manual workloads, automate complex operational workflows, and enable the delivery of highly personalized offers, ultimately leading to increased conversion rates and reduced servicing costs. Sabre has outlined several compelling use cases that highlight the transformative potential of this technology:

Call-Centre Proxy Agent: An AI agent capable of waiting on hold with an airline during irregular operations (IROPS) to secure rebookings, process payments, and update traveler itineraries automatically.

Hotel Operations Agent: An agent designed to manage room availability, confirm late arrivals, and arrange personalized amenities or breakfast preferences for guests.

Visa & Compliance Agent: An AI solution that automates visa application submissions, handles fee payments, and attaches necessary documents to booking records, ensuring compliance.

Expense Filing Agent: An agent that efficiently collects and codes receipts, then submits comprehensive reports compliant with company travel policies.
