TLDR: Rome is set to host a significant AI Festival, bringing together experts and enthusiasts to delve into the profound impact of artificial intelligence on the global creative economy. The event, alongside other initiatives in the city, will explore how AI is redefining artistic expression, fostering new business ventures, and challenging traditional notions of creativity across various industries.
Rome is poised to become a focal point for discussions on the future of artificial intelligence and its far-reaching implications for the global creative economy. The much-anticipated Rome AI Festival, scheduled for December 30, 2025, aims to gather AI enthusiasts, experts, and curious minds for an immersive experience featuring cutting-edge talks, hands-on demonstrations, and invaluable networking opportunities. The festival is designed to be a hub for exploring the latest advancements in AI and fostering collaboration within the rapidly evolving landscape of digital creativity.
This central event is complemented by other significant initiatives across the city that underscore Rome’s commitment to understanding and shaping AI’s role in creative industries. For instance, John Cabot University hosted an ‘AI Salon’ on September 15, 2025, titled ‘Is AI Redefining Art, Culture & Business?’ This event brought together founders, artists, curators, and investors to discuss how generative AI is reshaping the creative economy, enabling new ventures, and challenging fundamental ideas about creativity. The discussions highlighted AI’s capacity to expand creative toolkits, from visual art and music to fashion, film, and storytelling, and its potential in areas like restoring ancient architecture and enhancing museum experiences.
Further demonstrating this engagement, the Italy Media Art Festival 2025, which held a special screening in Rome on October 22, 2025, explored the theme ‘Technology for the Common Good: Art for a Just Transition.’ This festival showcased works emerging from the intersection of artificial intelligence and biological imagination, presenting AI not as a replacement for artists but as a partner that amplifies expressive possibilities. The multimedia productions featured at the festival, combining acoustic instruments and electronic timbres generated by AI, emphasized a new creative horizon where technology facilitates unprecedented artistic collaboration.

Educational institutions are also adapting to this new paradigm. The Rome University of Fine Arts (RUFA) is offering a course on ‘Creative Industries – AI and Creativity’ from October 6 to December 15, 2025. This workshop-based program familiarizes participants with generative AI tools such as DALL·E, Midjourney, Sora, Suno, and ChatGPT. It focuses on developing design methods based on prompt engineering and the hybridization of human imagination with artificial intelligence, exploring AI as a ‘creative ally’ and a ‘poetic and conceptual medium’ capable of expanding linguistic, aesthetic, and narrative possibilities in contemporary art.
