SAN MATEO, Calif. – Roblox Corporation (NYSE: RBLX), the immersive gaming and creation platform, announced a groundbreaking array of new innovations at its 11th annual Roblox Developers Conference (RDC) on September 5, 2025. These advancements span artificial intelligence, monetization strategies, and core platform performance, all designed to significantly empower its global creator community.
Empowering Creation with Advanced AI
At the forefront of the announcements are substantial AI-driven tools aimed at accelerating content creation and fostering artistic freedom. Roblox introduced ‘4D object creation,’ a generative AI capability that adds interaction as a fourth dimension to 3D objects. This allows creators to instantly generate functional items, such as a drivable car with operational doors, with a limited release planned for Q4 2025. According to internal data, these AI tools are expected to reduce development time by 30-50%, while the Cube 3D model can generate millions of 3D objects from simple text prompts.
Further enhancing communication and interaction, Roblox unveiled real-time voice chat translation, supporting English, Spanish, French, and German. New APIs include a text-to-speech API with 10 preset voices for dialogue and narration, and a speech-to-text API enabling voice commands for in-game actions. Nick Tornow, Roblox Senior Vice President of Engineering, emphasized the company’s vision: “Our goal is for developers to have the opportunity to transform their ideas into growing businesses. Time and again, we see that when we give our creators powerful tools and opportunities, they create things that inspire us by pushing the boundaries of creative possibility. At Roblox, better tools, including many with AI capabilities, will help creators get from idea to shared reality faster.”
Boosting Creator Monetization and Engagement
Monetization remains a key focus, with Roblox announcing an 8.5% increase to its Developer Exchange Program (DevEx) payout rate. This comes as creators have already earned over $1 billion through DevEx in the 12 months ending June 30, 2025, and are on track to surpass this figure by the end of 2025. The top 1,000 developers saw their average revenue nearly reach $1 million, marking a 2.9x increase since 2020. Currently, over 29,000 creators participate in the DevEx program, with the median creator earning $1,440 USD in the past year.
To further drive engagement and audience growth, Roblox introduced ‘Roblox Moments,’ a new short-form video experience currently in beta for users aged 13 and older. This feature, akin to popular short-form video platforms, allows users to capture, edit, and share gameplay clips, fostering organic discovery. The platform also announced strategic licensing partnerships with major IP holders, including Mattel (for ‘Polly Pocket,’ ‘Street Sharks,’ ‘Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots,’ and ‘Matchbox’), Kodansha (‘Blue Lock,’ ‘That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime’), and Lionsgate (‘The Strangers,’ ‘Blair Witch,’ ‘Fall’), providing creators with a wealth of licensed assets.
Enhancing Platform Performance and Realism
Roblox is also making significant strides in platform performance and fidelity. New ‘Server Authority’ mode aims to reduce in-game cheating and enhance the realism of physics interactions, particularly beneficial for competitive multiplayer genres like shooters and racing games. Avatar improvements were showcased, enabling lifelike motion such as running, climbing, and vaulting with natural momentum, alongside improved fidelity for complex actions like grasping with fingers. These advancements are designed to open up new genres requiring greater physicality and context. Furthermore, enhanced engine performance will allow the platform to run at the highest fidelity across various devices without requiring additional effort from creators or sacrificing performance.
