TLDR: Resolve AI has successfully raised a $35 million seed round led by Greylock Partners, with participation from Unusual Ventures and angel investors. The company is pioneering an ‘AI Production Engineer’ – an agentic AI system designed to autonomously troubleshoot, resolve, and manage complex software production issues. This innovation aims to drastically reduce Mean Time To Resolve (MTTR), free up human engineers from tedious operational tasks, and significantly boost productivity and innovation in software development.
Resolve AI, a groundbreaking company focused on transforming software operations, has announced a significant milestone with the closure of a $35 million seed funding round. The investment was spearheaded by Greylock Partners, joined by Unusual Ventures and a consortium of prominent angel investors. This capital infusion is set to accelerate Resolve AI’s mission to empower engineers and ensure the continuous, efficient operation of software systems globally through its innovative agentic AI technology.
The core of Resolve AI’s offering is its ‘AI Production Engineer,’ an advanced agentic AI system designed to autonomously manage and resolve production issues. This addresses a critical pain point in the software industry: engineers often spend up to 90% of their time on operational tasks such as on-call duties, troubleshooting, infrastructure management, and security. This operational burden frequently leads to burnout, high turnover rates, and a significant drag on innovation.
Spiros Xanthos, CEO of Resolve AI, highlighted the challenge, stating, “Engineers spend the majority of their time dealing with operational tasks. Conversations with hundreds of executives and engineers have revealed a common pattern: in real-world software systems, engineers spend the majority of their time on operational tasks–on-call, troubleshooting, infrastructure management and security–that require a deep understanding of code and production environments.” The company aims to reverse this trend by building AI that deeply understands production systems and can operate them effectively.
Resolve AI’s platform constructs a comprehensive knowledge graph of a company’s production environment. Its AI agent leverages this understanding to troubleshoot incidents, analyze source code changes, detect anomalies, query logs, and suggest remediation actions, often within minutes of an alert. The system integrates seamlessly with existing tools like AWS, Kubernetes, GitHub, and Slack, mimicking the workflow of a human engineer. This capability significantly reduces Mean Time To Resolve (MTTR), leading to increased uptime and overall productivity.
Greylock Partners, a lead investor, emphasized the transformative potential. “This future isn’t about AI replacing engineers; it’s about AI and humans working together to amplify productivity by 100x, enabling engineers to focus on what they do best: innovating and building,” a Greylock representative noted. Mayank Agarwal and Rushin Shah of Resolve AI further elaborated on the necessity of this approach: “To achieve high productivity gains in software engineering, we need to automate the more complex activities that require a deep understanding of how to go across different tools, how to go across operational boundaries, and use a lot of tribal knowledge so a human doesn’t have to be at the wheel.”
