RegTech Innovator Zango AI Secures $4.8 Million Seed Funding Led by Nexus Venture Partners

TLDR: Zango AI, a London-based RegTech startup, has successfully raised $4.8 million in a seed funding round. The investment, led by Nexus Venture Partners, with participation from South Park Commons and several angel investors, will fuel the expansion of Zango’s teams in London and Bengaluru and accelerate the development of its AI-native Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) platform. The company aims to revolutionize regulatory compliance for financial institutions by automating complex tasks using AI agents.

London-based RegTech startup Zango AI has announced the successful closure of a $4.8 million seed funding round, spearheaded by Nexus Venture Partners. The significant investment also saw participation from early backer South Park Commons, alongside a notable roster of angel investors including Richard Davies, CEO of Allica Bank; Alan Morgan, Senior Partner Financial Services at McKinsey EMEA; Mark Ransford; Notion Capital; No Label Ventures; and Start Ventures. This capital injection is set to propel Zango’s mission to redefine regulatory compliance for global financial institutions.

Founded in 2024 by second-time entrepreneurs Ritesh Singhania and Shashank Agarwal, Zango AI specializes in AI-native compliance automation. The company leverages regulation-specific Large Language Models (LLMs) and integrates AI agents with human expertise to automate traditionally manual and spreadsheet-heavy compliance workflows. This includes critical functions such as horizon scanning for regulatory updates, real-time identification of compliance gaps, and comprehensive audit preparation. Zango’s innovative approach aims to transform compliance from a burdensome cost center into a strategic growth driver for businesses.

The newly secured funds will be strategically deployed to expand Zango’s operational teams in both London and Bengaluru. A significant portion of the investment will also be dedicated to the development of new product modules for its advanced AI-native Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) platform. Furthermore, Zango plans to broaden its market reach by expanding its services beyond traditional banking into other critical financial services verticals, including insurance and asset management.

Zango’s platform is already making a tangible impact, serving a growing client base that includes established institutions like Novobanco, Portugal’s fourth-largest bank, and leading neobanks in the EU and UK such as Monzo and Juni. Sabina Ausfelt, Head of Compliance at Juni, lauded Zango’s capabilities, stating, “The platform’s current and future modules are set to revolutionize the second line of defense work in regulated industries like ours.”

Co-founder Ritesh Singhania articulated the company’s unique value proposition: “Traditional SaaS stops at KYC and AML, leaving the rest of compliance buried in spreadsheets and manual reviews. Zango changes that. Our regulation-aware AI agents continuously track regulatory updates (horizon scanning), identify compliance gaps in real time, and keep firms audit-ready — no operational drag, no surprises.” He further emphasized, “We don’t sell a platform — we sell a solution. Our AI agents are paired with humans-in-the-loop to ensure 100 per cent accuracy. Peace of mind doesn’t come from a tool; it comes from a result. That’s why we win against consultants — because they don’t just sell software, and neither do we.”

Anand Datta, Partner at Nexus Venture Partners, underscored the market opportunity, remarking, “The global regulatory landscape is ripe for disruption.” Zango AI’s emergence from stealth with this substantial funding round positions it as a key player in modernizing how financial institutions navigate the increasingly complex and costly world of regulatory compliance.
