Real Estate Veteran Unveils ‘The Real Estate Therapist’: An AI Chatbot Offering Humorous Support and Practical Guidance for Agents

TLDR: Jay Thompson, a seasoned real estate professional, has launched ‘The Real Estate Therapist,’ a custom-built AI chatbot designed to provide emotional support, practical advice, and a touch of humor to real estate agents grappling with the demanding aspects of their profession. The bot aims to alleviate burnout and assist with challenging client interactions.

In a groundbreaking move to address the often-overlooked emotional toll on real estate professionals, industry veteran Jay Thompson has developed and launched ‘The Real Estate Therapist,’ a custom-built AI assistant. Unveiled on July 11, 2025, this innovative chatbot is designed to offer agents not just practical advice, but also much-needed emotional support and a dose of levity in a high-pressure job.

Thompson, drawing from decades of experience in the real estate sector, recognized that agents frequently shoulder significant emotional labor, acting as de facto therapists for their clients without formal training. ‘We’re not just negotiators, marketers and transaction managers — we’re therapists. Except we’re not trained for that part, and it wears on you,’ Thompson stated, highlighting the core motivation behind his creation. The chatbot, initially conceived ‘somewhat as a joke’ before evolving into a dedicated weekend project, aims to fill this critical gap.

‘The Real Estate Therapist’ is engineered to help agents navigate the ‘mental, emotional and interpersonal minefields’ of their work. Its functionalities include providing scripts for agents facing difficult client situations, offering ‘burnout coaching,’ and assisting in drafting firm-but-kind messages to boundary-pushing clients. Crucially, the AI also injects humor into serious scenarios, a unique feature designed to lighten the mood and ease stress.

Thompson emphasizes that the chatbot is not intended to replace human agents but rather to augment their capabilities. ‘I don’t believe AI will ever replace the agent. But I do think it can help us show up better — for our clients, our teams and ourselves,’ he explained. He envisions a future where the synergy between human intuition and AI support leads to a ‘saner real estate’ environment, providing agents with an ‘edge we didn’t know we needed.’

Beyond its direct application, Thompson is also sharing insights and tips for other real estate professionals interested in developing their own custom AI bots, fostering a broader adoption of such supportive technologies within the industry. This initiative marks a significant step towards integrating AI not just for transactional efficiency, but for the well-being and resilience of real estate agents.
