TLDR: Quest International University (QIU) has initiated a comprehensive program to equip its academic staff and students with Generative AI (Gen AI) skills. Starting with a ‘Train the Trainers’ workshop for 24 educators, the university aims to integrate AI into teaching methodologies, foster higher-order thinking, and prepare students for future technological demands. The initiative includes a university-wide rollout of training for all staff and subsequent sessions for students on ethical Gen AI usage, supported by a newly introduced Framework and Playbook for Gen AI in Teaching and Learning.
Quest International University (QIU) recently hosted a ‘Train the Trainers’ workshop, a significant step towards empowering its academic community with Artificial Intelligence (AI) capabilities. The program successfully trained 24 academic staff members, enabling them to effectively integrate AI into their teaching practices.
The two-day workshop was a collaborative effort, jointly organized by QIU’s Academic Affairs Division and the Faculty of Computing and Engineering. Its core objective was to demonstrate how Generative AI (Gen AI) can be leveraged to cultivate higher-order thinking skills among students and adequately prepare them for a future increasingly influenced by advanced technology.
Participants engaged with a diverse range of modules, including ‘Introduction to AI and Gen AI,’ ‘AI in Curriculum,’ ‘Gen AI in Teaching and Learning,’ and ‘Gen AI in Assessment and Meaningful Impact.’ A practical component of the workshop involved the development of innovative classroom activities and assessment tasks specifically designed to stimulate critical and creative thinking using Gen AI tools.
This initial workshop signifies the commencement of a broader university-wide initiative. Plans are in place for all academic staff to undergo similar training. Following this, students will participate in dedicated sessions focusing on the ethical and responsible application of Gen AI in their academic pursuits.

To underpin these educational advancements, QIU’s Academic Affairs Division has developed and introduced a ‘Framework for the Use of Generative AI in Teaching and Learning.’ This comprehensive framework is publicly accessible under a Creative Commons Licence on the university’s official website. Complementing the framework is a practical ‘Playbook,’ which provides concrete examples and clear guidelines on how to effectively utilize Gen AI to enhance both learning experiences and assessment methodologies.
