Perplexity Bolsters AI Capabilities with Acquisition of Invisible for Agent Infrastructure

TLDR: AI unicorn Perplexity has acquired Invisible, a company specializing in scalable infrastructure for AI agents, to enhance its AI-native browser, Comet, and expand its offerings for both consumers and enterprises. The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Perplexity, a prominent AI unicorn, announced on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, its strategic acquisition of Invisible, a company renowned for its expertise in developing scalable infrastructure for artificial intelligence agents. This move is set to significantly bolster Perplexity’s capabilities, particularly in scaling its innovative AI-native browser, Comet, for a broader audience encompassing both individual consumers and large enterprises.

The announcement was made by Perplexity CEO Aravind Srinivas, who shared the news on X (formerly Twitter). Srinivas highlighted that the Invisible team, which brings valuable experience from previous roles at tech giants like Uber and Cloud Kitchens, will be instrumental in ensuring Comet’s secure and reliable expansion.

Invisible describes its core mission as providing ‘infrastructure for the AI-native world,’ focusing on integrating AI agents with personal data to revolutionize various industries. The company offers two key products: A3, an enterprise-grade automation API designed for autonomous agents, and Taka, which it touts as ‘the world’s first AI personal CFO,’ aimed at managing individual finances through artificial intelligence.

In a statement released on its official website, Invisible confirmed the acquisition, emphasizing the strong alignment between its vision and Perplexity’s objectives. Invisible noted that Perplexity’s Comet browser aligns perfectly with their goal of transforming the traditional browsing experience into a more comprehensive and interactive one. Comet aims to go beyond simple search functions, enabling users to conduct in-depth research, compare products, make purchases, schedule appointments, and receive detailed explanations through a natural, conversational AI interface.
