Palo Alto Networks, a global leader in cybersecurity, has significantly advanced its offerings with the introduction of new automated AI agents, Cortex AgentiX, and a major upgrade to its AI security platform, Prisma AIRS 2.0. These innovations, announced on October 28, 2025, are designed to empower organizations in the escalating battle against sophisticated cyber threats and to secure the rapidly expanding landscape of artificial intelligence.
Cortex AgentiX represents a new generation of AI agents capable of automating critical cybersecurity tasks. These agents are engineered to handle comprehensive threat intelligence investigations, efficiently respond to email breaches, and seamlessly integrate across various security vendor platforms. Their capabilities extend to aggregating threat intelligence, delivering in-depth investigation analysis, securing network and cloud environments, and automating IT operations. Customers will also gain the flexibility to build their own no-code agents through the AgentiX platform. Palo Alto Networks projects that Cortex AgentiX can achieve a remarkable 98% reduction in the mean time to resolution for cybersecurity incidents, coupled with a 75% decrease in manual workload. The tools are currently available through several of Palo Alto’s existing cloud services and are slated for release as a dedicated platform in 2026.
In parallel, the company unveiled Prisma AIRS 2.0, a substantial platform upgrade that incorporates the recently acquired Protect AI. This comprehensive AI security platform aims to provide end-to-end protection across the entire AI application lifecycle, securing everything from autonomous agents to the underlying AI models. Prisma AIRS 2.0 offers real-time, in-line defense against emerging threats such as prompt injections, tool misuse, and malicious agent behavior. It also features robust capabilities for discovering and inventorying all AI agents in use, including unsanctioned ‘Shadow AI,’ providing crucial visibility and control.
Key modules within Prisma AIRS 2.0 include AI Agent Security, which safeguards the autonomous workforce; AI Red Teaming, offering continuous and autonomous vulnerability hunting with over 500 specialized attacks to proactively identify weaknesses in enterprise AI systems; and AI Model Security, designed to shield open-source deployments by performing deep architectural analysis to detect AI-native threats like architectural backdoors, data poisoning, and malicious code within model layers. This module also provides a complete ‘list of ingredients’ for enterprise AI, enhancing governance, risk, and compliance.
According to CEO Nikesh Arora, these new AI agents address the growing demand from customers for more automated capabilities in an environment where cyberattacks are intensifying. Arora stated, “Some companies still believe they are completely secure, but that is an illusion,” highlighting recent incidents like the nation-state hack suffered by F5. Anand Oswal, Executive Vice President of Network Security at Palo Alto Networks, emphasized the transformative role of AI, noting, “AI is transforming every enterprise, creating extraordinary opportunities and new risks. Prisma AIRS 2.0 bridges that gap, uniting deep model inspection, real-time agent defense, and continuous red teaming in a single platform. We’re redefining what it means to secure AI at scale by turning security into an accelerator for innovation, not an obstacle. This marks the continuation of our rapid innovation in AI security as we advance new capabilities to defend against the threats of tomorrow.”

The launch comes as 78% of organizations are embracing AI transformation, yet only a mere 6% possess adequate security guardrails. Palo Alto Networks’ strategy also includes a global reorganization, marked by the integration of Israeli specialist CyberArk, acquired for $25 billion, further solidifying its commitment to combining artificial intelligence and cybersecurity on a large scale.
