TLDR: OutSystems has announced the general availability of its Agent Workbench, a comprehensive platform designed to empower enterprises in developing, deploying, and managing intelligent AI agents at scale. This new offering aims to address critical challenges such as governance, security, integration, and scalability that organizations face when implementing agentic AI systems.
LISBON, Portugal – September 30, 2025 – OutSystems, a leader in AI-powered low-code development platforms, today announced the general availability of its Agent Workbench. This innovative platform is set to revolutionize how enterprises leverage artificial intelligence by providing a centralized hub for creating and orchestrating intelligent AI agents across diverse use cases, departments, data sets, and workflows. The announcement was made live on stage at the OutSystems 2025 ONE Conference in Lisbon, the company’s annual flagship event.
The launch comes at a crucial time, as a significant majority (93%) of organizations are prioritizing the development of AI agents but are grappling with substantial hurdles. These challenges include ensuring robust governance, maintaining stringent security, achieving seamless integration with existing infrastructure, and scaling agentic systems effectively. OutSystems Agent Workbench is positioned as the solution to these complexities, offering a singular platform that combines enterprise-grade security and control with effortless integration capabilities, thereby accelerating adoption and time-to-value.
Woodson Martin, CEO of OutSystems, emphasized the transformative potential of the new offering: “When applied strategically, agentic AI is one of the most powerful levers for enterprise innovation and transformation, empowering organizations to drive value faster, optimize workflows and bring legacy systems into the future. Agent Workbench provides enterprises with the infrastructure to achieve unprecedented results with agentic systems while maintaining critical observability and control.”
Agent Workbench simplifies the process of embedding agentic AI into enterprise-wide operations without necessitating the disruption of current workflows or the re-architecting of core systems. It enables IT teams to build and scale AI agents that can interpret goals, evaluate options, and make informed decisions. The platform offers flexibility for integration with custom AI models or third-party providers, centralizing control over AI and data access, which can lead to reduced costs and multi-vendor utilization.
Key capabilities of the Agent Workbench include grounding AI agents in a unified data fabric that connects to various enterprise data sources, such as relational databases, data lakes, knowledge retrieval systems, and the agent’s memory of past interactions. It also facilitates the orchestration of multi-agent workflows, enabling collaboration, efficient escalation handling, and human intervention when necessary. Furthermore, the platform enhances security through enterprise-wide monitoring of agent performance, offering real-time logging, error tracing, and built-in guardrails to ensure transparent and reliable decision-making.
