Oracle Positions Itself as the Foundational AI Data Platform with New Offerings and Strategic Partnerships

TLDR: Oracle is aggressively pursuing the role of the definitive ‘system of record for AI,’ launching new AI-native database and data platforms, expanding its infrastructure with a massive AI data center, and forging key partnerships to enable secure, enterprise-grade AI development and deployment.

Oracle is making a significant strategic push to establish itself as the ‘system of record for AI,’ a foundational platform for enterprises to securely leverage artificial intelligence with their proprietary data. This ambition was a central theme at Oracle’s AI World 2025 conference, where Co-Founder and CTO Larry Ellison delivered a keynote address emphasizing that ‘AI changes everything.’

At the core of Oracle’s strategy is the launch of the Oracle AI Data Platform and the redesigned Oracle AI Database 26AI. The Oracle AI Data Platform, now generally available, is designed to help customers securely connect industry-leading generative AI models with their enterprise data, applications, and workflows. It unifies the data lakehouse and AI into a single platform, simplifying the journey from raw data to production-grade AI through automated data ingestion, semantic enrichment, and vector indexing. T.K. Anand, executive vice president at Oracle, stated, ‘By unifying data and simplifying the entire AI lifecycle, Oracle AI Data Platform is the most comprehensive foundation for enterprises seeking to harness the power of AI with confidence, security, and agility.’

The Oracle AI Database 26AI introduces a new AI vector data type, enabling databases to represent the semantic content of complex objects like documents, images, or videos. This new database architecture integrates AI and data, offering capabilities like retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) and vector search, allowing large language models to securely reason across both public and private data. Juan Loaiza, executive vice president of Oracle Database Technologies, highlighted that Oracle’s AI for data supports all leading models and frameworks, allowing customers to call them via APIs or deploy them as private instances for enhanced security.

To support its ambitious multimodal AI model training, Oracle showcased a massive expansion of its physical footprint: a sprawling 1,000-acre data center campus in Abilene, Texas. Described by Ellison as ‘a 1.2-billion-watt AI brain,’ this facility hosts over 450,000 NVIDIA GB200 Grace Hopper Superchips, powered by the local grid and onsite natural gas turbines. Ellison revealed, ‘We trained the first version of Grok,’ and emphasized that Oracle is involved in training more multimodal AI models than any other company, with the new campus serving as a hub for both Oracle and its partners.

Oracle is also actively applying its new AI capabilities internally, with AI models generating production code, building customer insights, and automating outreach. Ellison noted, ‘A lot of the code Oracle is writing – Oracle isn’t writing. Our AI models are writing.’ Furthermore, Oracle is engaging in significant public-private partnerships. The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), Argonne National Laboratory, NVIDIA, and Oracle announced a landmark partnership to deliver the DOE’s largest AI supercomputer. This collaboration will immediately provide DOE with access to AI computing resources using NVIDIA Hopper and Blackwell architectures, while simultaneously building two next-generation AI supercomputing systems at Argonne, including the Solstice system featuring 100,000 NVIDIA Blackwell GPUs. Clay Magouyrk, CEO of Oracle, expressed pride in partnering with the Department of Energy ‘to deliver sovereign, high-performance AI capabilities.’
