Lagos, Nigeria – A groundbreaking study conducted by Arion Research for Zoho indicates a significant surge in Artificial Intelligence (AI) adoption among Nigerian businesses, with a remarkable 93% of firms now integrating AI into their operations. The report, unveiled by Mr. Kehinde Ogundare, Country Head of Zoho Nigeria, at the company’s 2025 User Conference, Zoholics Nigeria, in Lagos, also highlights a strong commitment to data privacy, with 84% of companies strengthening their privacy measures.
According to Ogundare, the study reveals that more than half of Nigerian firms have transitioned from merely experimenting with AI to implementing it across their entire organizations. This widespread adoption is complemented by a robust focus on data protection, with 94% of companies now employing a dedicated privacy officer or team, and 40% allocating substantial portions of their IT budgets specifically to privacy initiatives.
Mr. Ogundare emphasized that these findings underscore a responsible approach by Nigerian businesses in their AI integration journey. He stated, “This reflects Zoho’s philosophy of building privacy-first AI tools that help businesses grow while protecting customer trust.” The increased awareness of regulations, particularly since the introduction of Nigeria’s Data Protection Act, has played a crucial role, with 65% of organizations reporting heightened understanding of these guidelines.
In practical terms, Nigerian firms are actively implementing privacy-centric practices. The study shows that 57% conduct privacy audits of their AI systems, another 57% apply data minimization techniques, and 52% demand explainability for AI-driven decisions. Furthermore, businesses are investing heavily in human capital development to support this technological shift: 69% are investing in data analysis skills, 53% in AI literacy, and 40% in prompt engineering for generative AI.

Alongside these insights, Ogundare also announced Zoho’s impressive 75% customer growth in Nigeria in 2024, solidifying the country’s position as one of Zoho’s strongest markets in Africa.
