Naver Cloud and Daedong Partner to Advance AI in Agriculture

TLDR: Naver Cloud and Daedong Group have officially joined forces to develop an artificial intelligence (AI) agent specifically designed for agricultural applications. This collaboration aims to bring data-driven precision farming directly to farmers, starting with an “AI Call” service for automated farming logs and progressing towards comprehensive AI-driven farming prescriptions and physical AI integration in agricultural machinery.

Naver Cloud and Daedong Group have announced a strategic business agreement to jointly develop an advanced artificial intelligence (AI) agent tailored for the agricultural sector. This partnership, formalized on September 25, aims to revolutionize farming practices by enabling data-driven precision farming directly in the field.

The initial phase of this ambitious project will see the introduction of an “AI Call” service. This innovative system will utilize AI to make regular phone calls to farmers, gathering information about their daily farming activities and automatically compiling a detailed farming log. This foundational step is crucial for collecting the necessary data to power more sophisticated AI applications.

Following the successful implementation of the “AI Call” service, the collaboration plans to expand its offerings significantly. The service will evolve to provide AI-driven farming prescriptions, offering farmers personalized recommendations based on collected farming log data and government agricultural datasets. Ultimately, the goal is to develop a full-fledged agricultural AI agent capable of comprehensive farm management and optimization.

Testing for these new agricultural AI solutions is scheduled to commence with farms and local governments in the second half of the current year, with commercialization anticipated to begin in the first half of next year. The companies have also outlined a step-by-step roadmap for future development, which includes extending their efforts into physical AI. This will involve integrating edge AI models into agricultural machinery and developing advanced farming robots, further automating and enhancing agricultural operations.
