Windhoek, Namibia – The Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST) is set to host a pivotal international conference, the ‘Responsible Use of Artificial Intelligence and Emerging Technologies in Higher Education (RUAIETH) 2025’. This landmark event will take place from October 1st to October 3rd, 2025, in a hybrid format, with physical sessions held in Windhoek, Namibia.
The conference will serve as a crucial platform for experts to delve into the ethical considerations and best practices surrounding the development and deployment of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and other emerging technologies (ET) within the realm of higher education. Key discussions will focus on policy, governance, and the ethical implications of technology-supported education delivery, particularly in Africa.
RUAIETH 2025 is organized in collaboration with several prominent international and regional partners, including the UK’s Responsible Digital Futures, the University of Nottingham, RAI UK, the Association of African Universities Southern Africa Regional Office (AAU SARO), and the UNESCO Chair on Secure High-performance Computing for Higher Education and Research (SHPCHER). The event also boasts technical co-sponsorship from the Journal of Responsible Technology (JRT).
Attendees can anticipate a dynamic program featuring a variety of activities, including hackathons, workshops, industry exhibitions, and technical presentations. The conference invites contributions on original and unpublished research, as well as industry tools, at the intersection of emerging technologies and higher education.
Important dates for contributors included a paper submission deadline of August 15, 2025, paper notification by August 30, 2025, and camera-ready submissions by September 10, 2025. Accepted papers are slated for publication by Taylor & Francis, with a select few potentially being featured in an extended version as a special issue of the Journal of Responsible Technology, subject to a new review process. The conference proceedings will be submitted for indexation in major citation databases such as SCOPUS, Google Scholar, DBLP, and Semantic Scholar.
