Motion Secures $60 Million to Advance AI Agent Suite for Small and Mid-Sized Businesses, Reaching $550M Valuation

TLDR: Motion, a US-based startup, has successfully raised $60 million across its Series B, C, and C2 funding rounds, bringing its total funding to $75 million and its valuation to $550 million. The capital will be used to expand its engineering and product teams to further develop its AI-powered agentic work suite, designed to enhance productivity and operational efficiency for small and mid-sized businesses (SMBs). The company’s platform, which includes ‘AI Employees’ for tasks like project management and scheduling, is already utilized by over 10,000 SMBs.

San Francisco-based startup Motion has announced a significant funding achievement, securing $60 million across its Series B, Series C, and Series C2 rounds. This latest investment boosts the company’s total funding to $75 million and elevates its valuation to an impressive $550 million. The Series C round, which was oversubscribed by more than five times, was led by Scale Venture Partners, with additional participation from HOF Capital, 468 Capital, SignalFire, and Y Combinator, among others. Stacey Bishop of Scale Venture Partners will also be joining Motion’s board of directors as part of the Series C agreement.

The newly acquired capital is earmarked for the expansion of Motion’s engineering and product teams, with a focus on further developing its ‘agentic work suite’ – a platform that integrates AI agents to autonomously manage various business workflows.

Motion’s platform is specifically tailored for small and mid-sized businesses (SMBs), offering a comprehensive suite of AI applications and agents. These tools are designed to streamline a growing number of tasks, including team project management, knowledge management, document creation, spreadsheet operations, calendar management, meeting scheduling, and business intelligence. The company’s ‘AI Employees’ are a key feature, capable of autonomously completing work within the platform.

According to Motion CEO and Co-founder Harry Qi, the company’s mission is to empower SMBs, which constitute a significant portion of the American economy. “Our customers are SMBs who make up half of America’s GDP – everyday American businesses like IT services, marketing agencies, and construction companies. They are being left behind in this AI world, and we are going to help them win,” Qi stated.

The demand for Motion’s solution is evident in its rapid growth. The platform is currently utilized by over 10,000 SMBs. A new integrated AI agent bundle, launched in May, has seen explosive adoption, acquiring over 10,000 B2B customers and generating an impressive $10 million in Annual Recurring Revenue (ARR) within just four months. This rapid uptake suggests a significant pent-up demand for AI solutions among SMBs, especially when technical barriers to adoption are removed.

Research indicates that only 14% of small businesses currently leverage AI, compared to 34% of larger companies. This disparity highlights a substantial addressable market for solutions like Motion’s. Key barriers to AI adoption for SMBs include a lack of understanding (51% of business leaders) and perceived implementation complexity (43%). Motion’s integrated and user-friendly approach directly addresses these challenges, making sophisticated AI accessible without the need for extensive setup or specialized IT resources.

Motion, founded in 2019 by Harry Qi, Omid Rooholfada, and Ethan Yu, aims to be the ‘Microsoft Office of AI agents,’ providing an end-to-end agentic work suite that natively embeds AI into various business functions, from sales and marketing to project management and client engagement.

Joel Peeples, CEO of Ally, an IT Services Company, praised Motion’s impact: “Motion’s AI Project Manager cut our project delivery time by 30%. The Executive Assistant agent gives me back hours every week to win new clients. It’s the first platform where the AI feels truly built-in, not bolted – and Motion keeps shipping at a pace I’ve never seen before. I can’t wait to bring my entire business operations onto Motion with their upcoming new offerings.”
