Moonshot AI’s Kimi Chatbot Unveils ‘Agent Mode’ for Automated Website and Presentation Creation

TLDR: Moonshot AI has launched an ‘agent mode’ for its Kimi chatbot, featuring an ‘OK Computer’ function that allows users to generate multi-page websites and editable slides from simple prompts. This new capability, powered by the K2 foundational model, can process up to 1 million rows of input data and supports various multimedia outputs. The feature is available internationally, with beta testing ongoing in mainland China.

Beijing-based artificial intelligence startup Moonshot AI, backed by Alibaba Group Holding, has introduced a significant upgrade to its flagship Kimi assistant with the launch of an ‘agent mode.’ This new functionality, dubbed ‘OK Computer,’ empowers users to create sophisticated multi-page websites and editable presentation slides directly from straightforward text prompts. The announcement was made on Thursday, September 25, 2025, marking a notable advancement in AI-driven content generation.

The ‘OK Computer’ feature is designed for high-capacity processing, capable of handling up to 1 million rows of input data at once. It also supports a diverse range of multimedia outputs, including text, audio, and video, making it a versatile tool for various creative and professional applications. While Kimi previously offered slide generation based on text and documents, the ‘OK Computer’ expansion now includes the creation of websites with customizable user interfaces and integrated charts, as highlighted in an official promotional video.

Moonshot AI emphasized the enhanced autonomy of its system, stating in a social media post, ‘An agentic model with its own computer, K2 now has true agency,’ referring to its K2 foundational model that powers this new feature. This ‘agent mode’ signifies a shift towards AI systems that can autonomously execute complex tasks by breaking them down into a series of subtasks.

However, the introduction of AI agents also brings new considerations regarding security and safety. Ma Xinyu, a safety engineer at Moonshot AI, addressed these concerns at Alibaba Cloud’s annual Apsara Conference in Hangzhou. Ma noted that ‘The risks with AI chatbots mainly revolve around their inputs and outputs, whereas AI agents can perform real-world actions,’ underscoring the need for careful development and deployment of such powerful tools.

The ‘agent mode’ is currently accessible on Kimi’s official website for international users, including those in Hong Kong. For users in mainland China, the feature remains in beta testing. This marks the second instance in a short period where Moonshot AI has adopted a more cautious approach for its mainland users, following the exclusion of a premium membership program that offered priority access to ‘Agent’ features during peak times.
