MongoDB, a leading multi-cloud developer data platform, unveiled a significant expansion of its strategic partnership with Google Cloud on April 9, 2024, during the Google Cloud Next ’24 conference. The collaboration is designed to empower enterprises to more seamlessly and cost-effectively build, scale, and deploy generative AI applications by integrating MongoDB Atlas Vector Search with Google Cloud’s Vertex AI, BigQuery, Google Distributed Cloud, and the Google Cloud Manufacturing Data Engine.
The core objective of this deepened integration is to provide developers with streamlined access to leading foundation models and robust data processing capabilities, eliminating the need for complex data transformations or managing data pipelines between MongoDB Atlas and Google Cloud. A key highlight is the introduction of a dedicated Vertex AI extension for MongoDB Atlas, which will simplify working with large language models (LLMs) from various providers, including Anthropic, Google Cloud, Meta, and Mistral.
Further enhancing data capabilities, the partnership includes new Spark integration with BigQuery, enabling more efficient data processing. MongoDB Atlas is also being integrated into the Google Cloud Manufacturing Engine, a move aimed at the manufacturing sector to facilitate the combination and transformation of data for automating processes and optimizing operations with real-time applications.
In a strategic move to foster industry-specific AI solutions, MongoDB has joined Google Cloud’s Industry Value Network. The companies are actively developing tailored integrations for the retail sector, focusing on creating modern shopping experiences through composable commerce capabilities, personalization, and automation.
For enterprises with stringent data residency and security requirements, MongoDB Enterprise Advanced is now available on Google Distributed Cloud. This offers a validated solution within Google Cloud Ready—Distributed Cloud program, allowing governments, public sector organizations, and regulated industries to modernize operations while protecting sensitive data. Additionally, MongoDB Atlas Search Nodes are now generally available on Google Cloud.
Commenting on the expanded partnership, a MongoDB representative stated, “We’re excited to continue to build on this strategic partnership and provide even more ways for developers to quickly and effectively create and enhance applications with generative AI, including access to leading models through Vertex AI and automated data pipelines with BigQuery.”
