TLDR: Microsoft and Replit have announced a strategic partnership aimed at transforming enterprise software creation. The collaboration introduces ‘vibe coding,’ an AI-powered approach that enables business users across various departments to develop and deploy production-ready applications using natural language, effectively removing the need for traditional coding expertise.
San Francisco, CA – July 9, 2025 – In a significant move set to reshape the landscape of enterprise software development, Microsoft Corp. and Replit, the agentic software creation platform, have unveiled a strategic partnership. This collaboration is designed to democratize application development within organizations by bringing ‘vibe coding’ capabilities directly to business teams, allowing employees to build software with natural language and ‘no code required.’
The core of this partnership lies in integrating Replit’s agentic development platform with Microsoft Azure’s robust infrastructure. This integration will enable non-technical users in departments such as sales, marketing, operations, product, and design to create and deploy secure, production-ready applications simply by describing their needs in plain English. Replit will connect with various Microsoft services, including Azure Container Apps, Azure Virtual Machines, and the Azure native integration of Neon Serverless Postgres, ensuring seamless deployment to Microsoft Azure’s reliable infrastructure.
‘Vibe coding,’ a term coined by computer scientist Andrej Karpathy in February 2025, represents a fundamental shift in software development. It prioritizes a ‘code first, refine later’ approach with human oversight, facilitating rapid prototyping and iterative development cycles that align with agile frameworks. This methodology allows for quick transformation of ideas into working software, bypassing traditional technical bottlenecks.
Amjad Masad, CEO and co-founder of Replit, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership, stating, ‘This marks an exciting new chapter in enterprise software creation. Now every team member—not just engineers—can turn ideas into software with Replit Agent, no code required.’ Masad further noted that Replit’s platform already serves over 500,000 business users, who are building a wide array of applications, from internal tools to customer-facing solutions.
Deb Cupp, President of Microsoft Americas, emphasized the alignment with Microsoft’s broader vision. ‘Our collaboration with Replit democratizes application development, enabling business teams across enterprises to innovate and solve problems without traditional technical barriers,’ Cupp said. ‘Our relationship exemplifies our commitment to making powerful development tools accessible to everyone.’
The partnership comes amidst a broader industry trend towards AI-assisted development. Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella recently revealed that AI now writes 20-30% of the company’s own code base, underscoring the growing adoption of AI in software creation. Similarly, Meta Platforms Inc. CEO Mark Zuckerberg predicts that half of his company’s future development will be AI-generated within a year.

Replit’s platform targets two primary use cases: rapid prototyping for product and design teams, and the development of internal tools for operational departments where off-the-shelf SaaS solutions often fall short. The company is SOC 2 Type II compliant and offers the necessary governance controls for large organizations, with future plans for direct deployment into customers’ own Azure environments. Soon, Microsoft customers will be able to purchase Replit directly via the Azure Marketplace, streamlining procurement and accelerating adoption across organizations. This strategic alliance is poised to empower a new wave of innovation by making software creation accessible to a much wider audience within the enterprise.
