To put this in perspective, typical base salaries for top research engineers at Meta are around $440,000, while software engineers earn approximately $480,000, with stock options and bonuses often doubling or tripling these amounts. Research scientists generally command between $305,000 and $581,000 annually, with a median pay of about $400,000.

Meta has already made significant inroads in attracting high-profile individuals. Notable acquisitions include Ruoming Pang, formerly Apple’s head of foundation models, who reportedly joined Meta with a deal exceeding $200 million.
