Meta Enhances Ad Performance with Advanced Generative AI for Automated Creative Variations

According to recent reports, Meta’s generative AI features for ad creative have already achieved significant scale, with a “meaningful percent” of the company’s ad revenue now stemming from campaigns utilizing these AI-powered tools. Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, highlighted the progress in AI for ad creative, noting the growing adoption among advertisers. Li, a Meta executive, provided specific metrics, stating that “Nearly 2 million advertisers are now using our video generation features – Image Animation and Video Expansion, and we’re seeing strong results with our text generation tools as we continue to add new features.”

These new AI tools are designed to drastically reduce the time and effort required to produce high-quality, on-brand creative at scale. Key features include consistent branding at scale, allowing advertisers to automatically apply logos, brand colors, and fonts across various creative assets. Furthermore, Meta is testing AI video generation, a feature that transforms still images into animated videos complete with text overlays and music, aiming to make video production faster and more engaging. The platform also offers video highlights, where AI extracts key scenes and phrases from videos to spotlight product benefits more effectively.

Early results from these generative AI tools are promising, with Meta reporting up to a 22% boost in return on ad spend. This demonstrates the competitive edge these tools could offer in the increasingly crowded digital advertising landscape. The focus on video content is particularly notable, given its dominance on platforms like Instagram and Facebook. User engagement metrics also reflect the effectiveness of Meta’s AI-powered content recommendation systems, with time spent increasing 5% on Facebook and 6% on Instagram during Q2 2025. Video engagement, in particular, saw strong performance, with Instagram video time up over 20% year-over-year globally.

Looking ahead, Meta is reportedly planning to enable fully automated ad campaigns by 2026.
