Meta AI Introduces ‘Imagine Me’ Personalized Image Generation Feature to Indian Users

TLDR: Meta AI has officially launched its ‘Imagine Me’ feature in India, enabling users to create personalized AI-generated images directly within Instagram, Messenger, and WhatsApp chats. This new tool allows individuals to transform themselves into various scenarios or styles using simple text prompts and a few setup photos.

Meta AI has announced the rollout of its innovative ‘Imagine Me’ image-generation feature for users across India, marking a significant expansion of its artificial intelligence capabilities in the region. This new tool, available as of July 17, 2025, allows individuals to create personalized images of themselves using AI directly within Meta’s popular messaging platforms: Instagram, Messenger, and WhatsApp.

The ‘Imagine Me’ feature empowers users to express themselves creatively by simply messaging Meta AI with a descriptive prompt. For instance, users can type ‘imagine me as a 90s rockstar’ or ‘imagine me as a comic book hero,’ and Meta AI will generate a unique image based on the user’s appearance and the provided scenario. To facilitate this, first-time users are prompted to provide a few setup photos, which help Meta AI understand their facial features and generate more personalized and accurate results. These setup photos can be updated or deleted at any time through Meta AI settings.

This AI-powered feature is built upon Meta’s advanced Llama 3 language model and utilizes the Emu image synthesis model for its generative capabilities. While ‘Imagine Me’ has been available in select countries, including the US, its expansion to India allows a vast new user base to leverage this creative tool. It’s important to note that the feature is designed to generate images of the user themselves and does not create realistic-looking images of people, focusing instead on artistic and stylized transformations.

The broader Meta AI assistant, which includes the ‘Imagine Me’ functionality, offers a wide array of generative AI capabilities. It provides real-time information sourced from Google and Microsoft’s Bing, and supports tasks such as creating text, summaries, editing, translating, and various creative endeavors like generating poems and stories. Meta AI can be integrated into personal and group chats for advice and information. Furthermore, Meta has also introduced Hindi language support for Meta AI in India, initially on WhatsApp, with plans for expansion to other apps, allowing users to interact and receive responses in Hindi, including for complex queries like coding and mathematics problems.
