TLDR: Memories.ai, an AI research lab specializing in visual memory for AI, has appointed Chi-Hao (Eddy) Wu, a former Meta generative AI leader, as its Chief AI Officer. Concurrently, the company announced a $2 million bounty program to attract top AI researchers, following its achievement of analyzing over 10 million hours of video with its Large Visual Memory Model (LVMM).
San Francisco, CA – Memories.ai, an innovative AI research lab focused on developing visual memories for artificial intelligence, has announced two significant strategic moves to accelerate its advancements in the AI sector. The company has appointed Chi-Hao (Eddy) Wu, a distinguished expert from Meta, as its new Chief AI Officer, and has simultaneously launched a substantial $2 million bounty program aimed at attracting leading AI researchers from top global labs.
Chi-Hao (Eddy) Wu brings a wealth of experience to Memories.ai, having spent the last five years at Meta where he spearheaded generative AI research for various generative intelligence applications. His extensive background includes over 13 years in applied machine learning and more than 7 years in leadership roles at prominent technology companies. Wu is recognized for his expertise in generative AI, multimodal AI, computer vision, and large language models (LLMs), with a proven track record of transforming cutting-edge research into scalable products. He also boasts an impressive portfolio of over 30 top-tier publications and more than 20 global patents.
Commenting on his new role, Chi-Hao (Eddy) Wu stated, “Video AI is poised to be a multi-trillion dollar industry in the coming years. Memories.ai is tackling this issue head on and I have no doubt that they will build the infrastructure needed to make video AI intelligent, predictive, and instant.”
In a bid to remain competitive with larger AI organizations that offer substantial compensation, Memories.ai is initiating a hiring program with compensation packages reaching up to $2 million. This initiative targets top-tier researchers from leading AI labs such as Meta, OpenAI, Microsoft, xAI, Google, and Anthropic.
Memories.ai is renowned for its proprietary Large Visual Memory Model (LVMM), a technology designed to provide AI with persistent visual memory over extended periods. This addresses a critical limitation in current AI systems, which often ‘forget’ visual information after 15-60 minutes, hindering their ability to understand context, identify recurring patterns, or track changes over time. The LVMM platform captures, structures, and indexes video footage, transforming raw data into a searchable memory layer that AI models can query for deeper insights. The company recently announced that its LVMM has successfully analyzed over 10 million hours of video.
Dr. Shawn Shen, co-founder and CEO of Memories.ai, highlighted the significance of this milestone: “For the first 3 years of this generative AI revolution, the majority of advancements and value has been created in text. Video is the most dense and entertaining format of information and we’re confident the next decade will see massive advancements with AI. We are working tirelessly to power that revolution.”
