TLDR: MakeMyTrip has launched a new GenAI-enabled Trip Planning Assistant, an upgrade to its existing AI agent ‘Myra’. This assistant facilitates conversational travel bookings in multiple Indian languages, starting with Hindi and English, and supports voice and text interactions across various travel categories, aiming to make travel planning more accessible and intuitive for a wider audience in India.
New Delhi, India – MakeMyTrip, India’s leading online travel company, announced a significant advancement in its product offerings with the launch of its GenAI-enabled Trip Planning Assistant. This new feature, an upgrade to the company’s existing AI agent ‘Myra’, is designed to revolutionize the travel booking experience by making it more conversational, intuitive, and inclusive.
The new GenAI Trip Planning Assistant allows users to interact via both voice and text, enabling seamless and dynamic travel planning. Initially available in Hindi and English, MakeMyTrip plans to expand support to multiple other Indian languages, addressing a long-standing need for users who may be uncomfortable with English-only digital platforms. This initiative aims to reach the ‘Bharat heartland’ and bring intelligent travel booking to underserved regions.
The assistant is built on an agentic AI framework, leveraging a network of specialized AI agents across all major travel categories, including flights, accommodation, holidays, ground transport, visas, and foreign exchange. It supports multimodal input, allowing users to interact using text, voice, images, and even video. The system facilitates continuous back-and-forth dialogue, itinerary editing, and comprehensive post-sales support, all within a single conversational interface.
Users can pose complex and open-ended queries, such as “Where can I go in August for a relaxing holiday with my kids?” or “Mujhe Udaipur mein 3-star hotel 3500 ke budget mein chahiye” (I need a 3-star hotel in Udaipur within a 3500 budget). The assistant provides dynamic, personalized responses based on real-time availability, pricing, and relevance, bridging the gap between travel inspiration and actual booking by allowing users to move from query to confirmed booking within the same conversational journey.
Rajesh Magow, Co-Founder and Group CEO of MakeMyTrip, emphasized the company’s philosophy, stating, “We have always believed that technology is at its best when it solves complex problems behind the scenes, while making the customer interface as intuitive and as delightful as possible.” Sanjay Mohan, Group CTO at MakeMyTrip, described the system as “one of the most ambitious tech builds” undertaken by the company, highlighting the development of custom language models in-house and their integration with planning and verification systems.
